Brooklyn ‘caveman’ sentenced to 8 months for storming Capitol during Jan. 6 riot; acted out ‘fantasy game,’ says judge
A caveman-clad New Yorker who stormed the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection was acting out a stolen election “fantasy game,” said a federal judge who sentenced the rioter to eight months in prison on Friday.
Aaron Mostofsky, 35 — the son of a Brooklyn Supreme Court judge — was photographed wearing a fur costume and a police bulletproof vest inside the Capitol. His sentencing came after he his guilty plea to a felony charge of civil disorder and misdemeanor charges of theft of government property and entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.
In a Washington D.C. courtroom, Federal Judge James Boasberg chastised Mostofsky for his behavior, but gave him a sentence that was shorter than federal sentencing guidelines, which called for him to serve between 10 months and 16 months. Federal prosecutors had asked for a sentence of 15 months.
Boasberg said he believed Mostofsky’s remorse was real, and noted that Mostofsky behaved “almost as if this were a play, a performance.” He also said Mostofsky “went down this rabbit hole of election fantasy.”
“You somehow got stuck in the fantasy of a stolen election,” Boasberg said. “I hope you’ll leave some of the fantasy world behind. Your indulgence in that fantasy has led to this tragic situation.”

***So when Trump is re-elected and pardons all these people, can he ruin this judge’s career for such obviously biased remarks? To be candid, ruining the guy’s career isn’t even good enough. Spending time in prison is what would be called for, but our system aint set up that way.

Maybe his sentence was shorter than the guidelines because, in his guilty plea, he spoke out against President Trump. IMHO he should have spoken out with an apology to President Trump for making things worse for
him and his supporters ever since J6.
