No, Justices Barrett, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh didn’t say they wouldn’t overturn Roe v. Wade during confirmation hearings

The three justices said Roe v. Wade is an important Supreme Court precedent, but none said they wouldn’t overturn it.

The U.S. Supreme Court could be poised to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade case that made abortion legal nationwide, according to a draft majority opinion obtained by Politico. The court has confirmed that the draft opinion is authentic.

Roe v. Wade has granted the right to abortion under the 14th Amendment for nearly five decades. The Supreme Court’s decision would not only overturn Roe v. Wade but also Planned Parenthood v. Casey, a 1992 ruling that upheld the federally protected right to abortion.

After the leaked opinion was released, actor George Takei said in a viral tweet that Supreme Court justices lied about their stance on Roe v. Wade during their confirmation hearings.

A VERIFY viewer also texted the team to ask if Supreme Court Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh said they wouldn’t overturn the landmark court decision. All three justices were nominated by former President Donald Trump and later confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Longish article with lots of documentation.

I don't have the posting skills to do it justice (see what I did there?)

It's all there and well done.

The Dims don’t believe the baby has a right to due process under the 14th Amendment before being executed without even being accused much less tried by court.

the 1973 Roe v. Wade case that made abortion legal nationwide

It didn't make it legal. It did something else. It made murdering the innocent mandatory nationwide.

I wouldn't want to be the soul of any of the justices who voted for it.

Justices never say how they will rule on a potential case that may be before them.

Libs accused Reagan nominees of having a litmus test against abortion. Then when Clinton said he had one for it they just smiled. What they want is good. What they oppose is bad. Just like five year olds, and they run things.

Nobody cares about about this sophistry when video is everywhere of Kavanaugh saying Roe is settled law. The fact is that had this little bit of bsit and switch succeeded, and had the leaker not leaked, come January you would most likely be looking at a solid Dem majority.

No swing voter is going to look at this and say “oh, I understand, silly me, go ahead and ignore the vast majority of voters!”

The problem is that the 14th Amendment doesn’t supercede the 10th & 11th Amendments. Harry Blackmun was an evil man. He knew his decision was unconstitutional but pushed it anyway. The 10th & 11th Amendments prevent anybody from an inturpretation. that a questionable right to privacy superceded what both clearly said. That was the reason why the 10th Amendment was written and Harry Blackmun knew it. Roe vs Wade has stood wrongly for 50 years, but is must go logically. Regulation of Abortion clearly belongs to the states and everybody realizes it. The reason for the furor is that a lot of woman see a new fight for the right in their home state. That is why they are objecting. Sorry but Roe vs Wade is going. That is what is Constiturional and the law.

Oh and by the way Susan Collins is lying about them promising not to do away with Roe vs Wade. Who would want to have a Supreme Court Justice who predetermines a case before it comes up. Susan Collins is a liar!!!

True, liberal judges are never expected to do so. But judges nominated by Republicans are expected to pledge that Roe vs. Wade is sacrosanct.
