"Toddlers and Tiaras" star Kailia Posey tragically took her own life at the age of just 16, her family says, in a gut-wrenching statement.
Posey's family tells TMZ, "Although she was an accomplished teenager with a bright future ahead of her, unfortunately in one impetuous moment, she made the rash decision to end her earthly life."
The family is devastated, listing everything Kailia had ahead of her and her accomplishments during her 16 years, saying, "She won countless crowns & trophies after competing on the pageant circuit her entire life ... Her highly acclaimed talent as a contortionist had already led to professional touring job offers, and she had recently been selected to be a cheerleader at her high school next fall.
Not only that, Kailia's family says she had a love for aviation, and had plans to continue to work in the entertainment industry while pursuing her goal of a commercial pilot's license.
TMZ broke the story, the 16-year-old who first found fame on the popular TLC show -- even becoming a popular GIF as 'Grinning Girl' -- died Monday in Washington. At the time, her mom posted, "I don't have words or any thoughts. A beautiful baby girl is gone. Please give us privacy as we mourn the loss of Kailia. My baby forever".
Her family has set up a fund, at the Whatcom Community Foundation in her name with the goal of providing resources to help students in crisis.

I never heard of or watched the show but read she was on the Dean’s list and wanted to be a pilot. It may be that mama dearest wanted her to continue being in cheerleading and contorting herself. Not allowing her to be who she was, which was a bright, intelligent young lady. Sad.
The parents are responsible for teaching them that fame and fortune are nice but ultimately they are in the words of The Preacher “All vanity...”. Your life is worth so much more.
I wonder if she was molested, like a Disney kid.
These kinds of girls, the ones heavily involved with pageants and such, are used to everyone paying attention to them and validating them
When they dont get that they get depressed
Suicides are often attempted by girls for attention purposes and not because they actually are making a serious attempt to di, ie they dont usually shoot themselves in the head like males, they make scratches across their wrist or take some pills that can be thrown up or pumped out

Parents who allow their children into show business are guilty of child abuse.
What an evil thing to say without any direct knowledge.
Also coming out just a day after the news that Naomi Judd killed herself.

People who are having an emotionally fragile time whether brief or longstanding are sensing that there is nothing in the way of their self inflicted deaths. The current culture just reeks of it.

That is very true. I do Nordi walking (with the poles) and I listen on my headphones to Audible books. I happened to get a new narrated Bible with a good narrator and when I heard “male and female He created them,” I suddenly realized that most kids have probably never even heard this now.
No wonder they’re adrift and desperate.
Sexualized and judged on her looks by strangers from the day she could walk.
What could go wrong?
