Search for Alabama corrections official Vicky White and escaped inmate Casey Cole White

Escaped Lauderdale County inmate Casey Cole White had an ongoing relationship with the Lauderdale County assistant director of corrections, with whom he was last seen Friday before his escape.

According to an announcement today from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, investigators have confirmed through inmates in the Lauderdale County Detention Center that there was “a special relationship” between the two.

“That relationship has been confirmed through our investigation with independent sources and means,” the department said in a statement.

A felony arrest warrant was issued yesterday for Vicky White, who has been missing with Casey White, a capital murder suspect, since Friday.

Authorities think the two might be in a gold or copper 2007 Ford Edge with damage to the left rear bumper, according to WAFF.

The warrant accuses Vicky White of assisting the inmate, Casey Cole White, in escaping from the jail. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said he believed Casey Cole White’s escape was “orchestrated” and that Vicky White played a role.

The two were last seen Friday morning when Vicky White claimed she was driving Casey Cole White to the nearby courthouse for a mental health evaluation. But there was no such court appearance, according to the sheriff. Though transporting an incarcerated person alone is a policy violation, Singleton said other corrections officers did not question her because of her position of authority.

Singleton said a review of surveillance video revealed that Vicky White and Casey Cole White, who are not related, drove directly from the jail to Florence Square Shopping Center at Huntsville Road and Cox Creek Parkway. Vicky White’s patrol car was spotted on video at the shopping center about eight minutes after leaving the jail.

Singleton said it is believed Casey White was laying in the backseat of the patrol vehicle to avoid detection until they arrived at the shopping center and changed vehicles. At 3:30 p.m., a jail employee reported to the administration that she had been trying to contact deputy White but the calls went directly to voicemail. The employee also reported that Casey White had not returned to the jail.

The sheriff said Vicky White had turned in her retirement papers, and Friday was to be her last day.

Vicky White’s mother, Pat Davis, told WAAY TV that Vicky had been living with her for the past five weeks, ever since Vicky sold her house. Davis says her daughter didn’t speak about work often, never bringing up retirement and never mentioning inmate White in conversation.

In 2020, Casey White was charged with two counts of capital murder for the Oct. 23, 2015 murder-for-hire slaying of Connie Jane Ridgeway. He was already serving jail time for several offenses committed in 2015, including trying to kill his ex-girlfriend and kidnapping her two roommates.

A $10,000 reward has been issued for information leading to the capture of Casey White and a $5,000 reward is offered for information leading to Vicky White.

The public should not approach either suspect, authorities say. Information can be provided at the USMS Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102. Anonymous tips may also be submitted via the U.S. Marshals Tip App.

"The two were last seen Friday morning when Vicky White claimed she was driving Casey Cole White to the nearby courthouse for a mental health evaluation."

Who is the dummy who allowed one (assuming armed) officer to accompany an inmate outside the facility? Standard security practice is to always send two officers to escort, especially if the convict is a security/flight risk. Him being a murder suspect would definitely require more than one officer. Standard practice has always been when transporting a male inmate, at least one of the escorting officers had to be a male. Was somebody else inside in on this with her? That's the only way I can see her being allowed to leave with him. This stinks to high heavens.

Why does Lauderdale County allow convicts to wear the same color shirt as their officers? That right there reeks of a security risk. In New York State prisons, no inmate is allowed to have any clothing of the same color that the officers wear, ie., no black, blue, orange, grey.

They deserve each other. If they are found alive maybe put them in the same prison cell.

Article suggests that nobody tried to stop her because she had rank on them.

"...other corrections officers did not question her because of her position of authority."

The day I started working in NY State Corrections back in 1980, I was told that the only stupid question, is the one you don't ask.

"She would have been better off using it to buy an upper lip."

That would have been a waste of money since her upper lip might be stiff right about now.

Their search for her would probably be more effective if they concentrated on shallow graves in national parks. They might find him, too, that way.

She looks like a fat girl to me. A desperate fat girl looking for love. At least the convict is not one of Obama’s sons as I first suspected.

"Female guard in male prison, what could go wrong?"

Male guard in female prison, what could go wrong? It happens from time-to-time. Stupid people doing stupid things. I'm a female, and worked 25 years in uniform in NY State's prison system...10 years as an officer, the rest as a Sergeant, and I only worked in male prisons. I had to report a new female officer to my Watch Commander, because I received info from an inmate that she was close to one of the hispanic inmates. I briefly investigated it, and turned everything over to him. She ended up resigning. Dumb girl was divorced with at least two kids. The job and benefits would have come in handy raising two kids alone. I know, because I was divorced with two kids too, but mine were older by then. Whether you're a male or female officer, no convict is worth ruining your life, and good job over.

That's no excuse. You are supposed to be taught to question everything. Nobody is above the law or standard procedures. Not even a warden or prison commissioner. Even if you know who they are by site, you would be required to ask them for Identification before being allowed in, or out. It was standard procedure, and you could get in trouble in you didn't ask.

Well, you and I weren’t there. The ones who were didn’t question it, or at least kept silent about it.

As a law enforcement officer herself, does she really think they will get away with this, and go live happily ever after????

I don’t think she thought this through..........

If they ignored it, or chose not to question it, they are complicit in it.
