REVEALED: The 26 states where abortion will likely become illegal if SCOTUS overturns Roe vs Wade
Daily Mail UK ^ | May 3, 2022 | Paul Farrell

More than half of all US states have some kind of abortion ban law that is likely to take effect if Roe v Wade is overturned by the United States Supreme Court, according to a report.

On Monday, a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion written by Samuel Alito and published by POLITICO revealed that the court has voted to strike down the landmark 1973 ruling, which legalized abortion in the United States.

Alito wrote in part, 'Roe was egregiously wrong from the start.' The George W. Bush-appointed justice goes on to say that the issue of abortion should be returned to the 'people's elected representatives' to decide.

The opinion was drafted in February 2022. It's likely that a final ruling will be made public within the next two months, reports Politico.

Republican-appointed justices – Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett voted with Alito.

And states across the country are laying the groundwork for what comes after the more than 40-year-old ruling is nullified.

According to the pro-reproductive rights group The Guttmacher Institute, at least 22 states have laws on the books that would come into effect once the decision is officially adopted.

Imagine that! Representative government, where citizens of the states have a say in this critical issue. What a novel concept.

“This will be a slow process, full of surprises on both sides, but at least we get to have a voice in it now.”

As it should be.

The three trimester structure of the original Roe decision was gradually done away with by subsequent tinkering with the ruling. I recall the original decision allowed for states to even prohibit abortion in the final three months.

I think preborn humans should have more defined rights in our society than vultures.

"Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett voted with Alito."

What about Roberts?

A Deep State controlled SCOTUS will NEVER overturn Roe.

This is a ploy to get ‘Rats to keep voting ‘Rat.

Roberts just admitted that the draft is a leaked document. Does this mean by your standard that deep state does not control SCOTUS? Because it sure looks like they’re ready to overturn Roe v Wade.

Making me blush - so proud to live in such a red state ☺️

Already banned by my wondrous political outsider governor who somehow found a way to do that after all these years 🤪

Misleading title. Most of the states will pass laws limiting abortion, not outlawing it.

I’m not sure the RINOs will have the guts. Just like when they passed all sorts of legislation that the know Obama would veto. A few states may outlaw and a few will restrict.

The weird thing is, the vast majority of the electorate support the right to choose, and yet also supports the right to life as soon as it is more than an indistinguishable mass of cells. With today’s modern technology, an embryo is distinguishable with separate DNA from the moment of conception, but great masses of voters do not know this —> they’ve been lied to for generations of Planned Parenthood babykilling-for-money agendaists.

So we will see the heartbeat bill make great strides. Personally, I think that we should extend protection to preborn humans to well before the heartbeat is detectable, but that might be simply too big of an ask.

Or maybe Georgia, or Arkansas, or North Carolina. Or wherever. Looking for cheap land. 3-4 acres. I’m gonna die there.
