As of Wednesday, cashiers at the store will no longer be bagging bottles for them, though they might supply empty boxes when available. All New Jersey retail, grocery, and pharmacy stores, along with restaurants and other food service businesses, are banned from giving out single-use plastic bags, as well as foam containers, though there are some exceptions.
What about switching to paper bags? Supermarkets can no longer provide those either.
“We have long-term customers that still probably don’t know there is going to a be a bag ban,” Millington said. “So we’re trying to educate everybody as they come in. Right now, we do a lot of bags for wines and anything we sell.”

It is not obedience when you obey laws/rules that are reasonable.
It is only true obedience when you obey laws/rules that are totally insane.
I live in PA but work in NJ and we (me and my wife) have vowed to stop doing business here other than coming to work.
I can get everything I need in PA——while carrying LOL

The latter is referred to as being “blind” or “fascistically compliant”.
Reminds me of Africa in the 1970s. My sister was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Upper Volta. At that time, there being no plastic bags, it was common to wrap up purchases in old newspapers, even items like meat. Maybe convenience stores will start having a stack of old newspapers by the register for customer “convenience “.
Here in NJ, large number of people keep (voluntarily, we have no mandates) re-wearing the same filthy face diaper everywhere they go. The stupidity in this state even in more GOP areas is astounding.
“BYOB”
Hemp bags are the way to go.
Maine banned single use plastic bags. Which is really too bad because I used to use single use plastic bags as trash can liners in the bathroom and laundry. Also to scoop out the litter boxes when I had cats. I also used single use plastic bags as a lunch box. Very convenient with the handles. Also to keep tubes of caulk fresh. Some used them to pick up dog poop. I miss single use bags.
When I visit my father in law in PA, I feel like I am in America again. I go grocery shopping and maybe 5% are wearing the disgusting face diapers. Here in Jersey, it is now a slight majority (for much of the past year, I was the only one on the local supermarkets not masking so this is an improvement).

LOL-—I use them for the exact same thing. Also, use them when I clean out my car, deck or other areas. Which clearly would identify them as “multi-use bags”——rendering the law a moot point.
I work near Mt Holly, NJ and the only place I go with few people wearing masks is “Lowes”. Other than that I avoid the liberal crap areas and get right back to PA asap!
I hate NJ——Gosh, if I could carry here at least it would make it “bearable”.

Only if you can smoke them....
This is probably going to go over like Florio’s runny egg ban and toilet paper tax in the late ‘80s. He got kicked out of office over it. People will not be happy when they have a cart load of groceries and are told they have to hand carry them from there because bags are illegal. Specificlly soccer moms, though they won’t say so because “green”. But they’ll hate it just the same.
Oregon also doesn’t allow you to pump your own gas.
Lefties had been whining about plastic bags for years—as a result I always kept them and have hundreds available for all kinds of uses.
Hoarding is just common sense in a world where the Karens could ban anything at any time for any reason.
That is so yesterday!
Here in Californicate we’ve that “progressive” law for years.
How do you buy loose fruit? What about several small items? Do you put dripping wet chicken in with the loose fruit in the same dirty reusable bag?
Shop in another State which allows plastic bags!!
Have a freezer in your trunk and plan ahead.
Then the fools who live there move to Florida....
