PHOENIX (AP) - Former Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel, who recently resigned amid controversy over her performance in office, died Saturday of unspecified health complications, her family announced. She was 45.
Adel's husband, David DeNitto, said in a statement released on behalf of the family that they were “utterly heartbroken by this unimaginable loss."
The family’s statement did not elaborate on the cause of death but said that relatives requested that the “the press and the public honor her, her legacy and our family by respecting our privacy at this difficult time,”
Adel, a Republican and the first woman elected as Maricopa County attorney, had been criticized over issues that included dismissal of 180 misdemeanor cases because charges were not filed before the statute of limitations expired.
She also faced scrutiny over whether an acknowledged alcohol abuse problem had affected her ability to do the job.
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey called Adel's death tragic.
“The hearts and prayers of Arizonans are with Allister’s family, colleagues and close friends. May she rest In peace," Ducey said on Twitter.
Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell, Adel's interim successor, said Adel's “many years of service to our community leaves a legacy that impacted crime victims, first responders, and animals, just to name a few."

And they all look they were written off the same talking points.

She saved us from Soros supported DA, (who actually runs again now). That’s why all the badmouthing. Likely funded by Mr. S. again. We do not want Phoenix to be another LA, SF or Chicago!
On the election night, 2020, she suffered a fall in her bathroom and ended up in coma in hospital for a long time. Bleeding into brain.
Apparently, it took a long time before she even realized she won.
She never really recovered, but she tried her best.
Very sad story of great person.
Similar thing happened to a boss of mine years ago. Fell in the bathroom and knocked unconscious. Didn’t feel quite right for about a week. Went to the doctor’s and died in the waiting room.

Article also lists eating disorder....plus brain bleed with long recovery. Was performing badly. She had many problems...proximate causes of death unmentioned....sad case...RIP...
You are correct. She had an accident in 2020 where she fell down the steps of her home and had a head injury. The alcohol was probably to self-medicate.

Before the fall, she was doing very well.
After the fall, they wondered, if she ever would come back from the coma.
She came back, sort of, but she was never Ok since.
Real tragedy.
But, since she was Republican, the media quickly forgot the root cause and just reported on her job problems and alcohol.

The Democratic nominee is a Soros funded WOKE, with program identical to the LA,SF,NY, Philadelphia and Chicago DA’s.
For God sake, do not even thing about voting for her!
There are three Republicans running.
Vote for Gina Godbehere. Mitchell was appointed by the supervisors, because she support the “Great, no problem, election” position.
Sounds like she did exactly what she was supposed to do. I don’t even see it being a problem for the Dems as they merrily let criminals out of jail all the time.
