Australia Joins The “Ukrainian Bandwagon”; Agrees To Supply ‘Heavy Weapons’ To Kiev To Battle Russia
Eurasian Times ^ | April 28, 2022 | Tanmay Kadam

Posted on 04/28/2022 4:15:06 AM PDT by GonzoII

The Australian government has responded to appeals by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia for providing heavy artillery weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces as the war intensifies in Donbas. “We need some heavy weaponry – we need jets, we need tanks, we need productive vehicles, we need heavy artillery, we need offensive weapons. We need some real stuff,” said the Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia, Vasyl Myroshnychenko, during an event hosted by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) on April 26.

“We are there in the trenches for your people basically – because if we fall, the consequences we’re going to see globally will be enormous,” Myroshnychenko further said while emphasizing the importance of the defense of Ukraine for defending the values of freedom and democracy.

The appeal came on the backdrop of Russia intensifying its military offensive in Donbas which has raised the need for more tanks and mobile artillery for the Ukrainian armed forces to take on the Russian mechanized battalions.

So, Australia has agreed to send six M777 155mm lightweight towed howitzers and howitzer ammunition to Europe in response to the urgent plea by the Ukrainian Ambassador.

….snip The M777 is said to be 41% lighter than the 7,154 kg (15,772 lb) M198 howitzer it replaces and it has become the benchmark for 155mm Lightweight Towed Artillery Systems. It is used by the ground forces of Australia, Canada, India, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, and the United States.

The howitzer is equipped with a 39-caliber barrel and provides a maximum firing range of 24.7 km with standard rounds and 30 km with EFRB (Extended Range Full Bore) rounds. It can also fire the M982 Excalibur GPS-guided munition, which allows accurate fire at a range of up to 40 km….

Russia can’t even take a couple regions friendly to them. You think they’re going to expand further.

I reiterate: The Russian Bear needs to be cured of its imperialist fantasies and hubris and be given a good, hard dose of REALITY.

The Ukrainians seem willing to discharge this unpleasant task for us. Good!

Look at NATO and it’s its expansion.

What? Finland and Sweden are now petitioning for admission to NATO? OMG! I'm shakin' in muh boots! The horror!

Seriously: What's your problem with that?

It’s possible both sides suck.

Ah, yes: Nihilism! The last refuge of scoundrels!

My only point is that Russia will be humiliated as a consequence of its adventurism, and that that is a net benefit for the good ol' U.S. of A.!

Regards,

“I wonder if two Drug Narco Cartels in Mexico got into a War which ONE the USA would support..?”

Easy answer.
It would depend on which arm of The Party is currently in power and which of the two cartels gave them the biggest kickback.

Like Rush Limbaugh (RIP) always said, “Follow the money”.

“Since the Russian leadership was stupid enough to stumble into this self-inflicted catastrophe, then they deserve to get everything coming to them.”

I don’t like either government much. But you’re right.

Thanks for the link.
I’ve read the article and I own the book.

Another solid book to read is The True Believer by Eric Hoffer.

Neocon Bush bombed Iraq on unproven allegations that Iraq had a substantial nuke program when they were light years away from having even a rudimentary beginning.

Western powers bombed Libya on unproven allegations Gaddafi would attack 10k of his own people and no sanctions.

May 12, 1996, 60 Minutes segment on Iraq: “Lesley Stahl: “We have heard that half a million children have died. I mean, that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?” Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: “We think the price is worth it.”

But some here obviously like Bush invading and Obama bombing with the U.S. “leading from behind” and NATO offensively bombing Libya when they are a defensive org just because the U.S. did it even though Bush and Obama were corrupt.

Let’s face it... Russia is the “other” so some reflexively side with those who align against them instead of being neither for Ukraine or for Russia amd don’t appear to have principles and smack of being an interventionist warmonger even they don’t want boots on the ground. And no critism of NATO either.

Concluded: The followimg lets us know to stay out of this.

This was never about protecting Ukraine, this is a proxy war and was always about Russia. NATO will fight to the last Ukrainian while the U.S. has 130% debt to GDP ratio, $200 trillion in unfunded liabilities, we’re broke, have rampant stagflation, shelling out billions to protect Ukraine’s borders when we don’t even protect our own.

“According to various estimates, Zelensky’s fortune is estimated at US$850 million. He did not receive most of this amount until he became president,” the Twitter statement said.

We can end this war tomorrow.

Give mobile nuclear missiles to Ukraine.

Position them specifically in the Donbas regions and on the Black Sea coast line.

What could Putin do...

Order Russian nuclear strikes against the same geographic areas that Russia is currently fighting a war to acquire?

“Hey Aussies, China is moving in next door to you.”

Germany and Australia have both agreed to send weapons to fight Russia. We recently learned we ran out of Stinger missiles. I hope the West use up all its weapons fighting the Ruskies. We’ll have nothing left when we need them to fight China.

“Globalists are winning, not Russia.”

I think 5+ million Ukraine refugees and tens of thousands of Ukraine dead have a different point of view, but hey, they are not your concern anyway, are they. They were supposed to be loyal to Putin and just lay down and invite him to rule them.

Way to stay on point.

And no, IDGAF about Ukrainians. Same as Central Africans, or a dozen other shitholes involved in violent actions.

“I care about my country that’s going down the toilet.”

As hard as Biden may be trying to do that, the states are collectively showing he can’t succeed in the long run. His agenda following the wokesters is losing traction across the country and that loss is gaining traction daily. We will have a lot to combat after November and allot to clean up in 2025, but we can succeed.

Meanwhile Ukraine is not asking for a single American soldier.

They are depleting our weapons, our money, and I guarantee using our intel.
If Russia thinks they’ll be attacked, animals in a corner are the most dangerous.
There are contradictory issues being propagated.
Somehow Putin is the most evil man and extremely dangerous, and at the same time incompetent, foolish, and dying.

You missed my point.

Why would Putin incinerate or poison the land he is working so hard to seize?
