Video shows aftermath of fatal ‘Rust’ shooting, Alec Baldwin smoking

Alec Baldwin’s gruff attitude during his first interaction with police after he shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust” can be seen in body cam footage released by cops.

The video, released by the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office Monday afternoon along with a slew of other investigative files, shows cops responding to the shooting and their initial interview with the actor.

“My understanding is, you were in the room when the lady,” a responding deputy with the sheriff’s office says to Baldwin in the clip before trailing off.

“I was the one holding the gun, yea,” Baldwin replies in a gruff tone. “What do you need?”

The deputy told Baldwin, 64, to sit tight and not speak to anyone else as they worked to secure the scene and take statements from the witnesses.

A few minutes later, the actor is shown sitting with a few crew members and asking one of them for a cigarette.

“What do you got?” Baldwin asks a crew member, who replies that he has “Marlboro Medium.”

“I’ll take it,” Baldwin says.

“My hands are shaking… I’ll take anything.”

It’s not about ‘instant gratification’. Cigarettes don’t really get you high, certainly not for longtime smokers. It’s simply a stress management thing.

Someone who never developed that habit probably has other ways of dealing with a very stressful situation, but for a smoker, that’s probably going to be the quickest way for them to get themselves under control.

catering has always been part of every SAG and WGA contract for on-set actors, including the union crew. More often times, they order out and many times, cheapskate execs would use Uber Eats, I kid you not. The only ones who dont have it in their clause are adult video productions like Vivid, Bang Bros. etc. (dont ask me how I know of this)

Wondering if the prop guy will end up doing time. I heard they were target practicing with it at some point before the accident happened. Should have never been live rounds on set. Period.

That’s a lie or he didn’t realize he pulled it. Once the pistol is fully cocked the trigger pull is only 3.5 lbs. Very easy to pull, a child could pull the trigger. Baldwin spoke with investigators several times by phone in the weeks after the shooting. During a Nov. 3 phone call with Det. Alexandria Hancock, Baldwin reiterated that he had not pulled the gun’s trigger before it fired.

“I asked Alec if in the scene his finger would be on the trigger, to which he advised it was on the trigger, but he didn’t pull the trigger and he only pulled the hammer back. I attempted to explain to him how if [his] finger was on the trigger, and if he was pulling the hammer back with his thumb, his index finger may have still had enough pressure on the trigger for him to depress it,” Hancock writes. “Alec advised he never tries to pull the trigger on a gun unless they are rolling the camera.”

I agree, having known smokers in IRQ and AFG, they always reach for a cigarette, especially if the hands are shaking. I also think there were videos of him vomiting by the side of the lot.

He probably went through a lot of different emotions during that time.

Well, both my parents (ages 73 and 69), and a sister (aged 69) died of lung cancer, and the other two siblings died of a heart attack (age 51), and a stroke (age 74). I hope by smoking, they were all able to relieve whatever stress they created for themselves before they died.

Shows this was a cheapo production. Never been directly involved but have seen several movie sets and the food was amazing. Cheapo may loom big in the final conclusion of this.

Not defending Baldwin but I smoke and would have reached for a cig also.
