Ron DeSantis Signs Law Creating 'Police Force' to Pursue 'Election Crimes'

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a bill creating a new agency to target voter fraud that critics say is unnecessary and could be used for partisan gains.

DeSantis on Monday signed legislation intended to tighten safeguards against voter fraud while establishing the Office of Election Crimes and Security. The Republican governor's signature is the latest red state response to former President Donald Trump's baseless claims that the 2020 election was stolen. But opponents call the new office a solution in search of a problem.

The Office of Election Crimes and Security will be set up in the Florida Department of State and will be the first agency in the state dedicated to investigating election crimes.

Speaking at an event in Spring Hill, DeSantis said the new office is the most important part of the bill and will give teeth to other provisions. DeSantis said the office is the first of its kind in state government that will be able to prosecute voter fraud, and Florida voters could be confident their votes will be counted.

"The fact of the matter is when people see something that they think may violate the law, and you call the supervisor of elections - we'll they're not investigators," said DeSantis. "They're not law enforcement. What are you gonna do you? Call the State Attorney's Office? They do other crimes."

The Campaign Legal Center last month said the "new partisan agency" would "open the door for voter intimidation and harassment." Florida's governor will be allowed to appoint their own officers in every regional office of the State Department of Law Enforcement, taking away oversight held by nonpartisan election administrators and giving it to partisan politicians, the center said.

There are two things you forget:

1. They got away with the cheating last time, and they will be even more emboldened this time, especially because honest elections for these midterms will destroy them

2. You forget something else as well: All they have to do is just create a ton of ballots and bring them in trucks and say “oh look we found some more”. At that point they have no choice but to count those, because if the state refuses then the media will claim DeSantis is committing voter fraud and the Biden administration will easily find a judge which will force Florida to count those “found” votes

I take it, since you have abandoned the “FBI Takeover” argument, that you implicitly concede my points. That is wise.

To your other objections: You can always find flaws in any given program. Nothing is foolproof.

However, this is a stellar initial effort to counter the fraud.

And have you conceded they cannot do anything if new ballots magically appear that need counting? Because we all know the courts would force them to count those if that was to happen

” is the latest red state response to former President Donald Trump's baseless claims that the 2020 election was stolen.”

You mean the election after which they immediately surrounded the White House with security fences and troops ... that election?

DeSantis is looking more presidential every day.

I'm all for Trump winning in 2024, and DeSantis taking the job immediately afterwards.

Yes, I concede that.

There are measures we can take here, of course.

Special ballot paper. Ballot serial numbers. Outlawing ballot harvesting and drop boxes. Outlawing mail-in ballots.

These measures need to be taken. France, for example, outlawed mail-in ballots in the 1970's. It breaks the forensic chain of custody.

Do you know what it takes to be a good President? A very good President? The best President?

It takes a man.. yes, a man...
who tells the truth..
who puts America first on his list...
To who DOES THE RIGHT THING!!!

The half man seated there now...
He lies
America is his last concern
He does not know what is right and wrong
and he has barry in the wings doing all the wrong things also!

To parents out there who sometimes run out of patience...
A little preach.. from a Senior..

I had 5.. 4 sons and a daughter. All were my responsibility.. Yes, husband also.. but his job took him and his time. Someone has to “be there”. Should be there..

Set the example.. what you want them to be.. YOU be.

Be consistent... if they are not supposed to do something one day.. make it stick every day.

Be fair! If you have a child who is the perfect example .. and one who tends to want to disrupt.. think it through..
Be fair to both. Don’t go overboard for the perfect child and then hard on the other one who is not perfect.
The disrupter has to know you are on his/her side no matter what... but you will not tolerate disobedience.

It’s a 24 hr job.. 7 days a week..52 weeks a year... for as many years as it takes.

Don’t grow weary... you had the child.. take the responsibility.

I remember it being 24 hrs a day..for so long.. I was the disciplinarian.. and as they grew older, and in these later years.. I demand respect.. and I get it without saying I am owed. I do not tolerate rude in any fashion. I have grandchildren who know this... and give their best..

But children should honor all elderly.. be kind... they will be if you set the example and expect it.

I think one of the most important of all... no kids are alike.. and BE FAIR to those little ones... to those teenagers.. and to the married young man who now has a wife..
They know... just remember, they know if you care enough.. and it matters to them .. for a lifetime!
