After turning 2 years old, my son, Avishai, started demanding that he only wear tractor shirts, and my mind spiraled into darkness. I catastrophized worst-case scenarios, imagining a world where he fell for everything stereotypically manly. I envisioned him on a football field, barreling through mega-muscled opponents. Imagined him waxing a sports car on a warm summer day. I have always judged other guys who seemed boxed in by masculinity, but 3 ½ years ago, when I became a stay-at-home dad, my bias skyrocketed. My son was born in Albany, New York, on the bedroom floor of the apartment I shared with my wife. Minutes after his arrival, we took turns cuddling him against our bare chests. While the midwife and her assistant cleaned up, my wife, always one to joke, even soon after giving birth, bragged that she had a connection to our new baby that I could never attain because men couldn’t bond with babies like women could.

ugh. If my nephew had kids, he’d be THAT dad.
My name is Avishai and I’m a head case...
oh, please. Not “the spectrum”!!
This is written in the typical liberal spiel of emotional adjectives and exaggeration misconceptions than scream virtue signaling.
Beta dad conjured this article in his head after the kid became infatuated with tractors, “Oh, this will be great!”
Some parents gave their daughter some toy trucks, and their son some dolls. The daughter made the trucks into a family with a daddy truck, a mommy truck, and a baby truck. The son drove the dolls into each other, and lit them on fire.
Sounds like the kid might raise the man
I was thinking the same thing. The whole article drips with the self-satisfaction of this zero, right down to the ring on his thumb and the stupid hat.
That was a great post!
Here’s a case where a 3 1/2 YO wears the pants in the family, and it’s a good thing. His name is the combination of “avi” (my father) and “shai” (gift).
Pet Townshend, way ahead of his time..
Given his sexual orientation, I thought it was autobiographical. Don’t forget wicked Uncle Ernie...
Ain’t that the truth! Sheesh!
My 4 year old grandson thinks tractors are the coolest thing— or did, until I bought him a foot long RC model tank complete with machine gun and main gun on a swiveling turret, complete with sound effects. He can’t get enough of it. Best 50 bucks I ever spent.
I had a tractor there at the births of all three of my sons for just this reason. /s
Awesome.
The boy is more of a man than his father is.
And he thought there was only one kind of tractor. Idiot. There are red tractors and green tractors. Even morons know that. And you'd better not get them mixed up in some parts of the country.
“I thought Manual Labor was the name of some Mexican guy.”
Maybe the kid will get lucky and survive the car crash, to be adopted by real people.
Jay, turn in your Man card.
