INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — He was lagging in the polls. His cash was running low. With the state’s primary fast approaching, J.D. Vance’s chances of winning the Ohio GOP Senate nomination didn’t look promising.
But his fortunes have changed dramatically in just the last week since Donald Trump delivered his endorsement, an intervention that has upended one of the most contentious Republican primaries in the nation.
More than $5 million in new donations have poured into a pro-Vance super PAC — just weeks earlier, it had spent nearly all of its available funds. Vance, the author of the book “Hillbilly Elegy,” has taken the lead in polling for the first time since entering the crowded Republican primary in July.
“I would not have told you, you know, a week ago that we were in a position to win convincingly,” Vance said in an interview Wednesday. “I felt pretty good about the race a week ago, but now I feel very good about it.”
He was having cookies-and-cream milkshakes with his children when Trump phoned to say he would be endorsing him, Vance said. The call came 20 minutes before the former president’s announcement went out late last Friday afternoon, according to another person aware of the conversation, and followed days of intense lobbying by Vance’s opponents to try to prevent Trump from intervening in the race.
Trump pulled the trigger anyway.

I could be 100% wrong but I feel like Vance could do for Populist Nationalism in the Senate what Rand Paul did for Libertarianism in the Senate.
He seems like a genuine disruptor and one who is in it for a purpose.

The commercials in Ohio are totally off the rails. His opponents who professed their love for Trump before the endorsement (Gibbons and Mandel) are now running commercials emphasizing that Vance is a never-Trumper... even though he got the Trump endorsement. The message is “We love Trump more than Vance, and Trump endorsed Vance, but Trump is wrong in his endorsement”. Its all very strange.
Which he will, count on it. His loyalty will be to west coast corporate money, because Peter Thiel's ten million is the only reason he's in the race at all.
Trump has a talent for endorsing stealth Assistant Democrats.

I haven’t heard that Vance was homosexual. But he works for a massive hedge fund whose money came from Thiel.
Basically the donor class is trying to almost explicitly buy a Senate seat by pushing Vance. Trump loves other rich people so I’m guessing that’s why he got snookered, just like in PA.
