WASHINGTON – The first U.S. 155mm howitzers from the latest $800 million military aid package for Ukraine have arrived in Europe as American troops there begin training Ukrainian forces on the artillery, a senior U.S. defense official said Wednesday.

Some – but not all – of the 18 howitzers and 40,000 artillery rounds that the U.S. is sending Ukraine as part of the aid authorized April 13 by President Joe Biden have arrived in Europe as the U.S. delivered another four flights of military aid during the past 24 hours, said the official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

In that time, U.S. troops have begun training some Ukrainian forces on how to use the American howitzers, the official said. The training is expected to last “about a week."

The official declined to say where in Europe the training is happening, but said it is not occurring inside Ukraine. After completing the instruction, the Ukrainian troops will return to the fighting and teach other troops how to use the American howitzers.…

“And then there are battery and battalion level fire control and operational arrangements.”

Exactly - it’s not just “charts and darts” anymore (artillery-speak for manual fire mission calculation).

The closest I’ve ever come to a 155 is when I hired a guy who was ex army artillery to pour my driveway. He was as deaf as a doorknob.

The Us should not be funding or participating in this war.

We are taking money from Americans who would make choices for their own families to prop up a dictator in a war of two dictators.

Make Europe grow up.

Towed Howitzers are ‘ducks on a pond’ in this fight. They’ll just draw air attack or counter battery fire from the Russian mobile rocket artillery.

Yes, that’s why the training is only a week. Familiarization with the specific equipment.

That would be the idea. But that’s GPS-equipped tracked artillery’s strong suit.

How does this not directly involve us in their war? Russia would be justified if they lobbed missiles on us. Why can’t US politicians mind their own damn business? If they get us into this war, Russians will be the least of their worries.

You're right about everything except no other artillerymen here. 0802 - spent a few years as a battery FDO.

And yup, firing the gun itself is the easiest part of this. Learning a completely new fire direction/data computing system that is going to be the hardest part.

They will get us into a war. The only question remaining to be answered is, how long will it take them? For every item used in a was, there is a percentage of the cost of the item added that the politicians split among themselves. At the moment Ukraine is the politicians number 1 source of dirty money along with being where Fauchi’s bio labs are located. Both must be protected. And who better to protect them than America’s Sons and Daughters. While the politician plays with his secretary’s legs while eating a hundred dollar steak paid for with a portion of his graft money.

Why is the information about everything sent to Ukraine openly displayed in the media? Why would you tell your enemy what you are doing?

Exactly what the Neo Cons, Globalists, and politicians want. And it will continue to escalate until it reaches full scale nuclear. The only question remining to be answered is, how long will it take?

That’s how you kick out an invader. It’s amazing how softly worded envelopes have such little effect.
