Loved Terry Kath’s playing.
And this is my favorite Chicago song.

Too bad Terry Kath did not treat all guns as if they were loaded. It was a real loss.

Some of the best music ever was early Chicago.

Fun fact: “I’m a Man” was written by a 14 year old Steve Winwood and was first recorded by his band The Spencer Davis Group...

One of the greatest musical acts of the Rock era. Terry Kath was a guitar monster and the horn section is brilliant. Drummer Danny Seraphine is simply the best.
I also love the Chicago cover group, Leonid and Friends:

I caught the music bug very early in life. Chicago was one of my first full-fledged-fandoms, I think I was 8 or 9. Their live performances were among the best around, so much energy. I think Chicago is the reason I became a band geek, but, I say that about a lot of bands. Thanks for a great tune :)

Chicago has said that Jimi came backstage after a show and said, “You guys are [great]!”

I saw them in 1969 at Va Tech in a small auditorium. They blew my mind!
VT signed them up for three annual concerts (for peanuts), then the CTA album took off. Every subsequent concert started with “I Don’t Want Your Money”.

Kath was the Chicago sound. Once Cetera joined things went very “pop”

All of the band members of Chicago except for Terry Kath were classically trained musicians, music majors at DePaul. Kath couldn’t even read music but his sound was unique. He was the soul of the band and after he died Chicago became a ballad band.
The Tanglewood concert on YouTube is amazing.

“I’m a Man”
* These days, you need to check with SCOTUS before averring that.
* Nobody beat the Spencer David Group for that song.
“Chicago” — Nah, it was and always will be “Chicago Transit Authority.”
CTA and BS&T with David Clayton Thomas — amazing talent in those years.

A lot of groovy chicks and strange dancing. What was the guy talking to the girls about at the end that had them swooning and so giggly?
