What causes me excessive agita and stress is dealing with phone contacts on major businesses.

I cannot tolerate calls to call centers and dealing with incompetent company reps. Utility, phone companies, etc. All I ask of these firms is a direct email path and subsequent follow up from my written and detailed account issues.

They don’t want that of course.

I had an overbearing boss like this once. We had a death in the family, and he wanted to announce it to the entire institution, asked where/when the funeral would be, etc.

We squashed that pretty fast and got away from him asap.

I think some people have the notion that this somehow improves morale, or makes them a ‘cool boss’ - or something.

Woman in traditionally male jobs cause a lot of these problems. They must find out everyone’s birthdays and have gift giving binges on the holidays.

And the “do you want to chip in for a Christmas present for the boss’. NO. He has more money. If the $h!7 flows downhill, so should holiday presents.

Half a mil should ease his suffering a little.

How is it idiots like this win big cash settlements while others who have been injured get little or nothing?

Since they fired him, I’d say he deserved the 450k.

I do not believe any of this crap about ‘panic attacks.’ It sounds like a con devised following some office turmoil which likely developed out of this guy possibly being denied a bonus, promotion, or other consideration. Perhaps there was some other discord which set him on a scheme to get out but grab a bit before the break.

Birthday Party stress sounds rather lame to me.

Kevin Berling will try this at other places.
He will get a job in gov’t office and they will move him around with a raise and have him work from home to get rid of him. He will retire with lots of money after not having to actually work. Note his “immense stress” was overcome by the many many many hours of suing and attending court.
Faked all the way.

I knew of a guy at Earthlink (ISP) who never showed up while I was there for nearly 4 years (1999 to 2003). He had a doctors notice all the time and the company could not fire him. When they announced that they were closing the site down and gave everyone 2 months notice and said everyone who stayed to the end would get as extra a weeks pay for every year there plus pay for school for up to a year. He had a miracle recovery and showed up. I heard his supervisor talking to him sarcastically about him being there.

I bet he “works” in a gov’t office now....

I guess being the center of attention at a birthday party was too much stress, but taking the witness stand at the lawsuit was a piece of cake.

Quote
The $450,000 awarded by the jury included $300,000 for emotional distress and $150,000 for lost wages, WLKY reported.

A jury of his peers agreed with his case..

A note.
Nothing good seemed to occur at birthday parties in the bible..
