Quote
The $450,000 awarded by the jury included $300,000 for emotional distress and $150,000 for lost wages, WLKY reported.

A jury of his peers agreed with his case..

A note.
Nothing good seemed to occur at birthday parties in the bible..

Apparently the plaintiff did not have a panic attacking in bringing the case to court with all the stress that can bring, including (as in this case) the publicity.

Are any trials virtual these days because of Covid?

Stress level could go way down if one just needs to travel to their lawyer’s office or down the hall to their laptop

The guy sounds to me like he is a high functioning autistic. We used to have a guy like that where I work. He was a warehouse worker, and very competent. We tried to promote him but all he wanted to do was fill orders. He kept to himself and did not speak to others unless it was work related. When he went to lunch in the lunchroom he would sit at a table by himself in the corner and face the wall. I think he even made some death threats against some people, but he was considered harmless.

After many years he left the company. We heard a few years later that he had died of a heart attack. One of his relatives after his death told us that he was autistic (we did not know it at the time and just thought he was "strange") and that the years he worked for the company brought him closer to being "normal" than he had ever been.

The guy in this story sounds kind of like the guy who worked for us.

Guy clearly does not like to be the center of attention

A lot of people don’t want to be the center of attention.

If someone says no thanks to something like that, his wishes should be respected.

What a country...
Pussification is nearing total completeness...
A pussified communist country...

Yep change is an ongoing thing. Just look at this
country called USA and note the changes since
1492 when Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

absolutely agree.
we really don’t know how outrageous his “panic attack” was- sounds like he bolted for his car. Nothing wrong with that- maybe a little immature, but he did not bust the place up.

“Now they’ll have to throw him a Sorry you got sick but here is a check party.”

sounds like a vicious cycle ...

That is the way the company I worked for did it.

Costco cake is horrible. Disgusting! The cake is frozen at the cake factory and covered with nasty buttercream frosting at the store. I would eat the cake and throw most of the frosting away. It is more than half frosting. Gross! Makes me sick to think about it.

Yes! I usually eat the frosting off of any cake, and ditch the cake part :-)

I take my birthday off. In part because I don’t want to deal with typical office “oh it’s your birthday” crap. Apparently I should just sue.

I was pissed when my department planned a retirement luncheon for me and I told the Director that I did NOT want a lunch, party, etc. It still happened, but I went and was grudgingly gracious.

It was almost worth it to know I’d never have to see those people again. And I haven’t.
