Unexpected winter weather in Portland, Oregon, closed schools, downed trees and left residents without electricity as the state's largest city saw its first April snowfall in recorded history.
Residents of Portland woke up to a blanket of snow Monday morning after cold air and wet weather caused unseasonably frigid overnight conditions. Portland saw its first ever snowfall documented in April since the National Weather Service (NWS) began keeping records in 1940. The snow follows other unusual weather events the Pacific Northwest has seen over the last year.

Later in the article Newsweek makes an attempt to frame this as another extreme weather event caused by "global warming"... citing hot weather events on the west coast in the last couple of years. And a weird day about a week ago where we got a bubble of warm weather.
Sorry, April is not warming up much either.
It was only 8 above yesterday a.m. in Denver.
Of course, the big concern is for the homeless.🤮
Maybe name the storm after al gore?
Climate is what you expect...weather is what you get.
They changed the name from global warming to climate change to encompass this kind of thing. Now, if it’s unusual, or unexpected... CLIMATE CHANGE!!!!!!
RECORDED! Pretty sure sometime in “unrecorded” history it snowed at those coordinates.
It’s all about high and low pressure systems, not “global warming “.
Surely you meant “unhoused”. Apparently “homeless” is offensive now.
We just came out of a monster snowstorm here in North Dakota. Measured at 20 inches, but some crazy drifting. Will be digging out for a week.
THE FIRST TIME EVER????? CLIMATE CHANGE, CLIMATE CHANGE, WE’RE ALL GOING TO FREEZE TO DEATH AND DIE!!!! Oh, wait, I live in the south. We are not going to freeze. We are going to be blown away by another tornado. Never mind.
I remember basic at ft Knox KY. One morning it was like 80 degrees then temps
Dropped and then snow and rain after that. Spring time!
My weather site informed me we’ll have record cold for the date tonight. Furnace is on now and I’ll be going out to the shed for a load of firewood shortly. I blame Greta.
Un-possible, we’ve been told the Earf has a fever.
Global warming?
Yes, snow later than normal in spring is considered a sign of global warming.
Makes about as much sense as the first short fat woman appointed to the USSC who can’t describe what a woman is!
“Unrecorded history” was no fun at all.
The witch doctors did not know it was ok to cook the books.
Just came off an approximate 2 week work enforced quarantine. I started feeling ill on April 2, tested ‘+’ive for CCP-Coronavirus on April 4, and I’ve just been freed to return to work.
Yesterday was the first day I ventured outside. Last week, it hit 72°F. Yesterday, I had to walk through snow to get to the store. It was 15°F.
Apparently, SK and MB are in the process of getting 15-20 inches of snow.
Imagine how terrible this storm would have been WITHOUT ‘glow-bull warming’!

That is true. I have been working outside a lot for the last few months and it has not been much fun. The other day I was up on a ladder working on installing a new window with a heavy coat, hat and gloves and my fingers were still getting numb. I was irritated that we are still stuck with cold weather. Then it started snowing so hard that I had to give up on the project.
Our February wasn't too bad, but it was not any warmer than normal.
