“Historic Blizzard” Pounds Northern Plains With Feet Of Snow
NATION AND STATE ^ | 04/13/2022 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 04/13/2022 2:29:49 PM PDT by george76

While it’s not entirely unusual for the Northern Plains to observe a snowstorm this late in the season, it’s the intensity of the latest storm, which is battering parts of North Dakota and eastern Montana today, that is truly “historic,” according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

...

NWS said a “historic blizzard” has begun to impact the Northern Plains on Wednesday and will continue through Thursday. Heavy snow and strong winds will produce whiteout conditions. Travel across parts of eastern Montana and western and central North Dakota will be severely impacted. The regional snowfall total estimates could be as much as three feet.

...

What’s concerning is the Northern Great Plains is an integral part of the nation’s food supply, with vasts land devoted to crops and livestock. NWS warns, “significant impacts to livestock are possible.” As the growing season begins, the snow could delay plantings or disrupt what was already planted. This all comes as global food prices are at a record high and supply chains are still mangled.

John Kerry gave us 10 years before we all died from global warming about a decade or more ago. Recently he gave us another 3 years. This storm seems like John Kerry should give us at least another 2 weeks. In fact John Kerry is extending our existence faster than medical science.

We left Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls MT in 1978. It was noteworthy because Great Falls set a record for most consecutive days with snow in the ground. It was called the year without a summer. We all managed to survive that.

Doesn’t look all that bad. I’ve seen far worse.

Newsweek was right about the coming ice age in 1975. It was settled science.

Exactly correct. Most fields are not planted here in Western in Ohio until May. In ND, where it is definitely colder than Ohio, farmers will easily wait until @mid-May to plant crops. The snow will actually help moisten the ground. The big hit for farmers will be with the ones with livestock.

When I lived in North Dakota people from the air base would wonder why we didn’t have high school baseball. This is why.

Was this “historic snowstorm” also “unexpected” ?

I recall my car being snowed in like this in PA several years ago - but it kept on snowing another day so you had to shove this mess in layers - twice. The only thing on the streets were snowmobiles - everything shut down.

We used to have a joke in the USAF about men stationed in North Dakota or Montana.

“They have a wonderful summer there. All two days of it.”

No just hooked up to a great website where people from the area send in their photos of what’s it like wher they are. These were mostly in the Dakotas.

It’s too hot - global warming
It’s too cold - global warming
It’s snowing - global warming
It’s not snowing - global warming
It’s raining - global warming
It’s not raining - global warming

You get the picture....
