“Historic Blizzard” Pounds Northern Plains With Feet Of Snow
NATION AND STATE ^ | 04/13/2022 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 04/13/2022 2:29:49 PM PDT by george76

While it’s not entirely unusual for the Northern Plains to observe a snowstorm this late in the season, it’s the intensity of the latest storm, which is battering parts of North Dakota and eastern Montana today, that is truly “historic,” according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

...

NWS said a “historic blizzard” has begun to impact the Northern Plains on Wednesday and will continue through Thursday. Heavy snow and strong winds will produce whiteout conditions. Travel across parts of eastern Montana and western and central North Dakota will be severely impacted. The regional snowfall total estimates could be as much as three feet.

...

What’s concerning is the Northern Great Plains is an integral part of the nation’s food supply, with vasts land devoted to crops and livestock. NWS warns, “significant impacts to livestock are possible.” As the growing season begins, the snow could delay plantings or disrupt what was already planted. This all comes as global food prices are at a record high and supply chains are still mangled.

Warm is always better than cold. You can’t grow crops in snow.

I know we are told that global warming also includes severe winter weather, so there you have it.

Custer and his men were delayed on their march to the Little Bighorn by a blizzard in the badlands of North Dakota in June of 1876. They hunkered down and waited it out.

They should have listened to God and marched back to Bismarck.

The storm blew through North Idaho the past few days. We had a bit of snow and some graupel, but no accumulation. But it sure is COLD. Today is sunny and blue skies.

But snow increases the water table.

Planting later is better than drought conditions.

Most of the Midwest youtube farm channels I watch the farmers are all a week to two weeks out from planting.

Waiting for Psaki to blame high cost of food on climate changes brought on by Trump policies.

Science was asked for comment, and replied “This snow storm is unusually warm, and could possibly spread COVID. Stay indoors and masked at all time, who or where ever you are”.

I grew up in virginia and south Carolina and even as a kid I didn’t like snow all that much.

Being a Florida native my wife has never seen snow and wants to experience what it’s like to be in a couple or three feet of it.

I keep tellin’ her that after 15 minutes or so she’ll be wanting me to take her back home......for me it’s an overrated experience.

Snow sucks and those who say they like it are either making money off it or they’re lying.

Okay, this is just alarmism. Here in North Dakota, they don't plant crops in early April. Although they are always eager to get started, no North Dakota farmer assumes you can start planting even by the end of April.

Alarmism.
