The Oz endorsement woke up some Trump supporters to what some of us have been warning about for awhile. Trump is totally, utterly out of touch on these kind of issues, surrounded by inept, corrupt advisors. Personnel was his weakness in office, and the problem is getting worse.

He keeps it to have easier access to his mother.
Cruz had dual citizenship AS A SENATOR for how long before he gave it up??
“And yet Trump toppled TWO political dynasties to win the 2016 election.”
I think Ted Cruz could also have beaten Billary, Inc. Their negatives were that bad. But he faltered - seen as too hard core Christian fundamentalist in big but “moderate” states - in the primaries. He was also considered a non-establishment person, and I think it was that fact about Trump - considered not part of “the establishment”, that got him some of his primary victories and the victory over Billary, Inc.
The GOP grass roots wanted no more of a Bush dynasty, which was a label rightly set on Jeb and Marco Rubio.
However, I think timing is a big deal in politics, and I think the timing was right for ANY well run non-establishment campaign in 2016, yet that theme would not (in my opinion) have beaten Obama in 2008 or 2012. But after eight years of Bush and eight of Obama the establishment had worn out its welcome with too much of the electorate. I think that theme carried Trump alot, and maybe even most of all. That theme more than any policy specifics is what I think carried Trump.
If Trump broke ranks the most with the GOP grass roots, I think it was on spending. We got major tax reform but not major budget reform nor a big push by Trump for big budget cuts.
All good points. Let’s remember that Trump won in 2016 because he was able to carry Rust Belt states that the GOP hadn’t won in years. He had enormous appeal to independents and even many DEMOCRATS … which is not something that would have translated to any other GOP candidate in 2016 (in my humble opinion).
OZ is not a conservative and he sure as hell does not support the 2nd amendment.
What in the hell is Trump doing???
Oz is not 2nd amendment friendly.
Check it out.
I do not agree with any of the anti Trump posters on this thread and posted a rather long comment on same yesterday. My post was evaporated for an unknown reason. The self righteous, know it alls, who do not like Trump to begin with, are caterwalling about his endorsement of Dr. Oz over another candidate who is not in sync with Trump and his policies. A leader is chosen to make hard decisions such as Trump has made with OZ. The anti Trump commenters are using this opportunity to tout their disagreements with him over his past administration choices and their superior knowledge over what he shoulda, coulda, done. I am not a fan of Oz but this is politics over a senate seat that has the potential to make or break this country as we know it. A good President will prevail over a misguided senator when necessary. Oz can be dealt with. A RINO senator has no qualms about supporting the commie dem party when the compensation is worth it.
Well the rumor on this particular one are “he did it because his wife likes him”...
Whether that’s true or not, I certainly will never support this guy...
Held my nose and supported enough GOPe/Uniparty hacks in PA over the years, won’t do it anymore.
Wow, Deep State gins up another game of lets-you-and-him-fight and many here will dive right in.
Still not playing.
FWIW, I didn’t run right out and get a vaxx.
Still haven’t gotten a vaxx.
I’m keeping my powder dry on the Oz endorsement.
Meanwhile, I still support Trump.
Being ANTI OZ, does not make one Anti Trump... do not confuse the two...
I have supported Trump and America First from very early on...
I will not, and never will, support the hack that is OZ....
He’s a fraud, and a slimeball, and I for one, will never ever vote for another uniparty/gope hack...
Trump is free to support and endorse OZ, but I won’t.
Though truthfully, I don’t think any GOP candidate stands a change in PA against Fetterman in the general for Senate.
Trump support might drag OZ over the primary line (we will see), but if folks think the disenfranchised folks Trump brought to the table in 16 and 20 are going to show up to vote for OZ in large numbers... Just not going to happen.
Reality is even though there will clearly be a red wave this fall, I would say, odds of GOP taking the Senate race in PA regardless of who the nominee is, are low.
Yes, Fetterman is that solid of a candidate. It could be the hatred of Biden will be enough, but honestly, this is one race I think the GOP is going to have a hard time winning, even though the current is raging against the democrats this fall.
consider the source.
Why do you want to be manipulated by the media?
Red Flag laws are dangerous Oz supports them. Oz is an idiot.
If Oz is the candidate in PA. we will lose this senate seat to many of our base (I am one) WILL NEVER vote RINO again NEVER!! Oz is no damn different than a Dem and I am DONE being a battered wife by the traitor establishment!! Having an R next to their name means NOTHING, we keep winning elections YET losing the country!! If the Dem takes the seat so be it at least we know where the hell the Dem is coming from, perhaps we need to work harder electing a STRONG MAGA candidate from another state!! Oz is as PHONY as they come we don’t need another Mittens in the senate!!
I would agree with you on Trump’s appointments, and certainly on the one’s you highlighted.
The WH operations and the operations Cabinet officers can control most would think would require some prior experience that would contribute to a nominee’s ability to do the job nominated/appointed to.
Trump was an establishment, Washington D.C. and political outsider. Many of his earlier appointments were people who Trump knew were not exactly outsiders and were expected to have some insight, professionally and politically to bring to the jpb.
White House Chief of Staff - Reince Priebus - former chairman of the RNC, which is no small operation, and which imagine Trump thought would help his WH navigate the politcal shoals in the GOP and D.C. It didn’t.
Attorney General - Jeff Sessions - in addition to being a Trump supporter had a legal and political office background, and voting positions that aligned with positions agreed on by Trump, sugessting he could LEAD the DOJ. The DOJ led Sessions by the nose instead, and it made him unable to serve Trump well. Trump learned that strenght was not what Sessions had enough of against an entrenched legal bureaucracy he was supposed to lead.
Secretary of State - Rex Tillerson - Tillerson matched up with two areas important to Trump that Tillerson had plenty of experience in - the U.S. energy sector and years of dealing with and negotiating with foreign leaders. Again I think Tillerson was like Sessions, overcome by the bureaucracy he was supposed to lead. He would have made a better Secretary of Energy.
Secretary of Defense - James Mattis - I had no problem with Mattis, Trump did, but I think Trump was wrong. I noticed that in spite of their disagreement - mostly over our continued assistance to and work with the Kurds in Syria, Trump did not in fact quit what we had been doing there - effectively leaving in place what Mattis had argued to leave in place. Mattis was right in many ways on that score. It was cheap and stategic - Russia, Assad and Iran cannot determine what will happen with northen Syria, without either war or agreement with the Kurds we are backing there, which keeps a U.S. hand in that eventual settlement. Russia had already learned it cannot bully us in Syria.
“Some argue Mitch McConnell was controlling who he could appoint, for every single office.” Not knowing what is truth and what is rumor there, I wouldn’t comment.
“Trump also had a bad habit of going to the media and publicly trashing the people he appointed to office.” I think Trump has a big ego and thin skin sometimes. I think he does not understand how unnecessary, amd sometimes negative. it is to let those two things show too much in public discourse. When they are operating together they are not his best quality.
I think DeSantis is too strong a person in his own right to be a VP. I would suggest he run for Senator against Marco Rubio now in 2022. If Trump falters in 2024, DeSantis could run for POTUS in 2028. My only concern is if losing DeSantis as gpvernor of Florida will become a negative for the GOP in Florida, by way of who the GOP would replace DeSantis with.
I support America First, which is the Trump philosphy.. MAGA..
I don’t support every move Trump makes personally, nor will I likely ever, and if Trump ever does anything that makes me believe he isn’t sincere in putting America First, I’ll stop supporting him... but so far on that front he’s been consistent.
OZ on the other hand? Trump supporting him will not in any way change my opinion of OZ... he will never get my vote.
This is what OZ advocates folks, and that’s just a taste...
