In a discusssion the other day I had a Liberal throw out the term "Trumpism", and saying he saw "Trumpism" as the "biggest threat to democracy".
He immediately went on to add that he thought Trump was an "autocrat", and after I gave him the theoretical example of the issue and use of a President's executive order that had no foundation/application under existing law as an autocratic act, and how I think a number of Obama executive orders fit that case, the discussion descended into a loud back and forth during which never led to him saying what he meant by "Trumpism".
I have my own ideas of what he and other people on the Left think they mean by "Trumpism", but I am curious about what other Freeper's think the Left means by "Trumpism", as well as what we Freepers think they get wrong about Conservatives and Trump when they use that term.
“In a discusssion the other day I had a Liberal throw out the term “Trumpism”, and saying he saw “Trumpism” as the “biggest threat to democracy”.”
It’s a form of close-mindedness, bigotry, hatred, mental illness.
They really don’t even know what the mean by it. They really are not emotionally stable on this topic.
By Trumpism, they generally mean conservatism, or the only force in any opposition to them and their policy ideas.
America First is Trumpism
Tariffs are Trumpism
Tax Cuts are Trumpism
A border wall is Trumpism
Etc.
It’s just a catch-all for their opposition.
Fancier way of saying “#orangemanbad” is all it is.
Because you’re not supposed to oppose them, ya see.
Because THEY are virtuous and salt of the earth.
And anybody who opposes them is therefore evil and racist and misogynistic and any other big word they learned in college.

Trumpism
Free market
Freedom of speech
Freedom of peaceful assembly
Freedom of conscience
Right to keep and bear arms of military utility
Right to remain secure in property and effects
Limited government
Right to a SWIFT trial
Right of habeas corpus
You know, FREEDOM!
(T)he first step in the revolution by the working class is to raise the proletariat to the level of ruling class, to win the battle of democracy. The mindless left says “threat to democracy” as though that’s a bad thing—particularly if Wilson is right and democracy and socialism are the exact same thing. Democracy has been a threat to the US republic for way too long.
— Communist Manifesto, chapter 2
What will be the course of this revolution? Above all, it will establish a democratic constitution, and through this, the direct or indirect dominance of the proletariat.
— The Principles of Communism
(I)t is very clear that in fundamental theory, socialism and democracy are almost, if not quite, one and the same. They both rest at bottom upon the absolute right of the community to determine its own destiny and that of its members. Men as communities are supreme over men as individuals.
— Woodrow Wilson, “Socialism and Democracy”
Trumpism is racism, sexism, fascism, nazi-ism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia all in one man and his supporting basket of deplorables, with a large helping of patriarchal colonialism thrown in for good measure.
Oh, the shame I feel for voting for the man. Twice. Wish I’d voted for Biden in 2020, like my long dead and dear Dad did.
But, since Danger is my middle name, I’d gladly do it again if I get the chance.
“It’s just a catch-all for their opposition.”
Yes.
Before Trump it was Bushism. They hated Bush as much as Trump.
They hated Dole. Rosie O’Donnell called Bob Dole a fascist in 96, for example.
The Tea Party made them really go crazy because finally there were people who actually believed in conservative principles. They hated fake Rinos just for pretending.
Trump took it even farther.
There is a self-loathing involved in their psychology in the extreme ones.
Is the left really that confused or are they just trying so hard to be so confused?
The problem is too many on the Right adopt their lies, deceits, and confusion.
You’re new around here /so I can’t tell you the secret....
He governed as a conservative, i.e. according to the Constitution.
Why are you liberal?
Words, like facts, have no meaning to the left. They just echo what they hear on CNN.
The amazing thing about a Democrat is, they believe one party total rule is a democracy. And if you have an opinion other than their party line, it’s fascism. To question authority is being an insurgent, and when you exercise free speech, they want you arrested and silenced

Well, there’s your problem, right there.
There was a poll done last year asking voters who identified and Democrat or Republican (and were likely to vote) what their top concerns were.
This one below was the response from Republican voters most likely to vote:
Seems mostly reasonable, right? What adults, mature people, sane Americans might see as things to be concerned about, right?
This is the summation of fears that Democrat voters most likely to vote had:
How can any rational, sane, mature person look at the contrast between these two groups and not see a yawning chasm between the concerns of the Conservative group (Republicans) that appears to be rooted in reality and real world issues, and the Leftists (Democrats) who appear to be nearly insane and irrational?
I was truly stunned when I saw this and thought it had to be a fraud. But it isn't.
I have stopped trying to have rational discourse with these people. They are brainwashed, mentally ill, or both, and it is like teaching a pig to sing.
