Linux Mint - password recovery

Posted on 04/08/2022 6:46:49 PM PDT by djf

Ok, I installed Linux Mint on one of my pc's about a year ago. I lost the password and now I'm trying to resize the partition it lives in. Anybody know what to do? I have a grub cd that shows a few more boot options than a regular startup. I you feel it is a sensitive answer, feel free to email me!

Glad you got it worked out.

Rufus.exe for windows is a good USB ISO burner. I haven’t used an optical drive in years.

Ditto. Take monthly...or even weekly images using something like Redo Backup. That's if something went sideways. You can re-image your HDD or a new larger one. Then boot in single user mode to get to the root account.
Then use GParted to resize the partition Linux is on.
