Why don't the media ever ask why previous IPCC predictions have been so wrong?

Once again, the UN intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is warning that we are doomed by climate change.

Once again, the UN intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is warning that we are doomed by climate change. The media, Biden administration, and the IPCC like to scare people. This article by Yahoo News senior editor Ben Adler does not answer simple questions.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change on Monday released its latest report, which found that nations are falling short of their pledges to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to avert catastrophic climate change. While the technology exists to stay below 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 Fahrenheit) of average global temperature increase — the goal that virtually every nation agreed to in the 2015 Paris climate agreement and reaffirmed last year in the Glasgow Climate Pact — current policies put the world on a trajectory toward at least twice as much warming.

Without a dramatic shift in policy, Guterres warned, “We are on a fast track to climate disaster: Major cities under water. Unprecedented heatwaves. Terrifying storms. Widespread water shortages. The extinction of a million species of plants and animals.”

In 1989 the IPCC said we only had ten years left!

Here are four simple questions that the media won't ask because they don't care about the answer when they are pushing the radical leftist agenda to destroy America.

-How did the globe cool from 1940 to 1975 when the IPCC says that fossil fuels, CO2, methane, cars, humans, industrialization all cause warming?

-Isn't the temperature on the globe today similar to what it was during the medieval warming period when fossil fuels and humans weren't causing warming?

-Wouldn't a one-to-two-degree temperature rise be normal after a 550 year ice age ended in the mid 1800's?

-Why is the media willing to push a radical leftist agenda that will destroy America and decimate the poor, middle class, and small businesses without asking questions?

Why does the leftist media worship government as if it were a god?

The question I like to ask is... If the science is settled why are there over a hundred climate models with few that agree?

It is curious that the world is doomed by human-caused climate change at the same time the population of the developed world is in a state of dramatic decline.

Must be those cow farts again.

Its the same scheme they employ for COVID. Theyll say “they learned” more about it as time went on. That previous statements at the time were based on flawed data and that NOW theyve figured it all out. Theyll trot out some predetermined curated studies to back the new ‘knowledge’ (and to try to marginalize critics) and vilify those who are skeptical. Then time goes by and the new “knowledge” is rendered more lies (”aka flawed data”) ... then its rinse and repeat.

In 1989 the IPCC said we only had ten years left!

Of course, they've been saying that for about 50 years. Always pushing the goalposts about 10 years out at a time.

The thing that really gets me is that if I say "the Island of Martha's Vineyard will be 50% smaller in 10 years because the oceans are rising" and if that doesn't come true -- is it at least 20% smaller? 10%? Barack Obama bought a house on the shore of Martha's Vineyard. Has his basement flooded? Ever?

These predictions are not "just a little" off the mark. They have nothing. You can't say the world is going to end in 10 years and then, in 10 years, see that nothing has happened at all and still expect to be taken seriously.

Why...?

Maybe because climate change policy has as much to do with saving the planet as CoupFlu policy has to do with protecting public health?

"Why is the media willing to push a radical leftist agenda that will destroy America and decimate the poor, middle class, and small businesses without asking questions?"

Because the enemedia want to destroy America and decimate the poor, middle class and small businesses. That's what traitors seek to do.

Why doesn’t the media ask where the Project Plan is for fixing climate change? Where is the risk mitigation plan if the plan fails? What are the total costs of implementing the plan? Who are the key stakeholders, vendors and resources who will implement the plan and perform any operations work after the plan is implemented? Who is the Project Manager, what is the charter and who is the project sponsor?

The left has been whining about this for 30+ years now so surely there is a plan. Let’s see it already.

As I tell my 30 year old nephew who is big into all this stuff, I’ve been hear we are doomed within 10 years due to global warming since before you were born. We never adopted all the radical steps they screamed we had to right away - the “clock” they set ran out multiple times and nothing ever happened. When I was a little kid in the 70s they were all screaming about the coming ice age.

It’s because of predictions like these from more than a half century ago.

“Behold the coming apocalypse as predicted on and around Earth Day, 1970:

1. “Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.” — Harvard biologist George Wald

2. “We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of this nation, and of the world as a suitable place of human habitation.” — Washington University biologist Barry Commoner

3. “Man must stop pollution and conserve his resources, not merely to enhance existence but to save the race from intolerable deterioration and possible extinction.” — New York Times editorial

4. “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.” — Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich

5. “Most of the people who are going to die in the greatest cataclysm in the history of man have already been born… [By 1975] some experts feel that food shortages will have escalated the present level of world hunger and starvation into famines of unbelievable proportions. Other experts, more optimistic, think the ultimate food-population collision will not occur until the decade of the 1980s.” — Paul Ehrlich

6. “It is already too late to avoid mass starvation,” — Denis Hayes, Chief organizer for Earth Day

7. “Demographers agree almost unanimously on the following grim timetable: by 1975 widespread famines will begin in India; these will spread by 1990 to include all of India, Pakistan, China and the Near East, Africa. By the year 2000, or conceivably sooner, South and Central America will exist under famine conditions…. By the year 2000, thirty years from now, the entire world, with the exception of Western Europe, North America, and Australia, will be in famine.” — North Texas State University professor Peter Gunter

8. “In a decade, urban dwellers will have to wear gas masks to survive air pollution… by 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching earth by one half.” — Life magazine

9. “At the present rate of nitrogen buildup, it’s only a matter of time before light will be filtered out of the atmosphere and none of our land will be usable.” — Ecologist Kenneth Watt

10. “Air pollution…is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone.” — Paul Ehrlich

11. “By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate… that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, ‘Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, ‘I am very sorry, there isn’t any.’” — Ecologist Kenneth Watt

12. “[One] theory assumes that the earth’s cloud cover will continue to thicken as more dust, fumes, and water vapor are belched into the atmosphere by industrial smokestacks and jet planes. Screened from the sun’s heat, the planet will cool, the water vapor will fall and freeze, and a new Ice Age will be born.” — Newsweek magazine

13. “The world has been chilling sharply for about twenty years. If present trends continue, the world will be about four degrees colder for the global mean temperature in 1990, but eleven degrees colder in the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us into an ice age.” — Kenneth Watt

14. History seems to repeat itself as there will be a disproportionately influential group of doomsters predicting that the future–and the present–never looked so bleak. I guess we’ll need to critique the 2020 doomsday predictions in the year 2050 and see if they were any better than those from the first Earth Day 50 years ago.

Interesting article, yet it missing good examples.

Are there concrete predictions by the IPCC that have failed that we can use to discredit them?

Ten years is a good number to scare people.
Anything shorter, people would remember, anything longer, people would not care!
Their real predictions are more like disasters in several hundreds of years from now, but then, who would care now!
