Gary Richrath -- after they dumped him, he did at least one solo (kind of country I think) when he was still thin. He blimped out, not sure if it was due to a health problem, there are some vids of his sitting in with some local gig bands. He died a while back. In an interview he said he started playing solos high on the neck because of some bar band he'd been in when starting out, he couldn't have been heard otherwise. :^)

I did see this the other day when I was listening to The Outlaws from ‘78 doing Green Grass and High Tides. 23 minutes of YIKES! Anyway, I’ve been to jam sessions where I’ve ended songs early because the vocalist was so bad. Ooops! Link to outlaws if you are so inclined:

Karaoke — I really don’t like that. Anything that happens in a musical context can’t compare with the damage done to music by the stupid yowling to karaoke soundtracks.
