A car crashed through the dining room of a restaurant on Pelham Road Monday morning.
The glass facade of the restaurant was smashed and a sedan was completely inside the Joy of Tokyo restaurant near Beacon Drive.
Highway Patrol said an 85-year-old woman was trying to park in front of the restaurant and accidentally drove her car inside. We’re told no charges will be filed.

She probably thought it was a drive thru.
I’m saying she was in a Buick. Now I’ll go to the site and see if I’m right.
So a kamikaze driver drove into Joy of Tokyo restaurant...
I was close. Toyota Camry.
Oh.
Okay
So if it’s an 85-year-old losing control of a sedan, it’s an 85-year-old that crashes through the building, rather than the out-of-contol sedan doing the dirty deed.
But if it’s a clash-of-culture or religion-of-peace mass murder event, then we only hear about the SUV and nothing about the driver?
What do they take us for. Anyway?
Joy of Tokyo. Meet Agnes of Greenville.
Where’s the beef (teriyaki)?
My favorite was a elderly lady had to take a driver’s test to prove she was able to drive.
She drove her car into the front of DMV.
“trying to park in front of the restaurant and accidentally drove her car inside”
It seems you always hear the same thing when an old person has an accident. They tried to hit the brake but hit the gas instead. Or they tried to park but drove inside a building instead.
About 40 years ago, I lived in SE Portland near 42nd and Division, where Division takes a one-block jog out of a straight line. There was a little butcher shop on the corner (it’s gone now), and twice in three months eastbound drivers missed the turn and crashed into the storefront. The owner put up a sign saying, “Please Park Outside”.
Toyota Camry. What a shocker. I’ve said elsewhere that olde phartz don’t drive Cadillacs anymore, they like Toyotas.
Time to take Grandma’s keys away.
My grandmother at 99 was the oldest licensed driver in that state. No accidents that I heard of.
She was born in 1908, some months before the Model T went into production.
“”My favorite was a elderly lady had to take a driver’s test to prove she was able to drive. She drove her car into the front of DMV.””
Reminds me of a woman who left the DMV in Laguna Hills, CA years ago after a driving test and proceeded to drive right off the elevated location of the facility...Don’t remember if she survived...
ping
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandmother, not kicking and screaming like the passengers in her car.
PUNCH IT, MARGARET!
(Remember the old Toyota Camry commercial? - 1989)

They have no choice.
