The “Take Charge Of Your Health” Ping List

This potentially high volume ping list is for health articles and studies which describe something you or your doctor, when informed, may be able to implement for your benefit.

Now keeping a new list (“Common/Top Issues”) for conditions expected to only concern at least 1% of the population. Ask to be on either the “Common/Top Issues” or “Everything” list.

Please email or private message me if you want on or off of a list and of which list you desire.

I used to drink a pot of coffee every morning before I was diagnosed. (I was diagnosed at a research facility by real doctors….)

And, ADD is not jumping around like a monkey. It’s both the inability to focus—and, a minute later, such focus that you turn around a realize you’ve been working on a project so long…everyone else has gone home.

It was a curse and a blessing.

This has been known for a long time, but there is no money in replacing prescription medications with natural alternatives.

Over 50 years ago, a pediatrician told my mother, to give my brother coffee before school for his hyperactivity.

It worked.

It’s so much as an inability to focus as much as it’s simply your reservoir of concentration is smaller and needs to be filled up more often.

I find keeping a list of what needs to be dune helps, because I don’t have to think about the next thing. I just do something on my list and keep moving.

Also, exercise. I found that having a session where I made myself physically tired helped with the concentration.

A chemical stimulant works similarly to another chemical stimulant. Shocking! Now how about Dr. White's kiddie crystal meth.

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.
It is by the beans of Java the thoughts acquire speed,
The hands acquire shaking,
The shaking becomes a warning.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

You and I both know about ADD, the real kind. I call it “hyperfocus” when I get into that zone that you’ve described. I tuned sounds out, they were just background noise. I used to get teased, they called me “The Concentrator”. It wasn’t inaccurate. I’ve had to learn to live with it. It is a blessing and a curse. I try to focus on the good things that have come from my “deficit.” There are many of those.

The nuns would send my brother out to run around the school building 3 times...LOL.

Was he embarrassed? Sure.

But it sure beat having him sit in the hallway all day.

“It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.”

Mornings without it are not a lot of fun.

Caffeine IS a drug.

Its a lie it would replace drug use, when it itself is a drug.

Watch someone try to kick it. They are mostly very unhappy detoxing from cutting their use of it. Watch someone who doesnt get their regular morning coffees or cokes.

They already treat ADHD with speed, this is just a milder version of that.

Starbucks might like this, but Big Pharma won’t.

They have a running club every morning at my sons elementary school, I suspect for that reason..run out some energy so they can sit/focus in class.
Doesn’t help my son much, he’s still hyper in class but loves to run in morning so at least he’s getting exercise.

This is news? Those of us with ADD have been self medicating with coffee for years.
