Will Smith has finally issued a real apology for his atrocious behavior at the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday. Read:
“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive,” said Smith’s statement. “My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.”
“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” he added. “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
Smith also apologized to the Academy and others involved in the Oscars’ production.
At his Oscars acceptance speech for winning Best Actor, Will Smith was apologetic — but he did not issue an apology to Chris Rock.
“I want to be a vessel for love,” Smith claimed. ” I want to be an ambassador of that kind of love and care and concern,” he added.
“I want to apologize to the Academy,” he went on. “I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not, I’m not, I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not, it’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine light on all of the people.”
Chris Rock declined to press charges against Will Smith. It looks like Smith has finally apologized to Rock.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences said on Monday that it “condemns” Will Smith’s actions at the Oscars and is launching a formal review into his misconduct.

My thoughts exactly. It will be a real apology when he says it directly to Chris, and not until then.
Smith should have taken it up with Rock privately, not in front of the whole world. And obviously Rock had no malice against Pinkett, and was apparently completely ignorant about her condition.
That is a good point. Jada is like 51 years old, and that is way past her Sell-By date. I mean, who is going to get all hot and bothered enough to have an affair with a woman that old? It would have to be a total gigolo loser type.
A likely scenario given that people have tuned out the Oscars in droves.

Like rubberneckers at a traffic mashup, people tune in for gratitous sex and violence. This is why football has become more popular than baseball, just to name one example.
Of course, if it keeps happening, the novelty of it eventually wears off and promoters need to keep going lower. It is why Playboy magazine is no longer in print. It is why this old Bob Hope joke is no longer funny:

He’s not able to control his anger and he’s stated some wild things of late he has some mental issues that needs to be addressed.
