China's Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) said they have identified 120 of the victims using DNA testing, including 114 passengers and six crew members.

Monday's crash of the Boeing 737-800 plane marks China's worst air disaster in more than a decade. Flight MU5735 was en route from the southwestern city of Kunming to Guangzhou with 123 passengers and nine crew members on board, when it lost contact over the city of Wuzhou, the CAAC said in a statement.

The recovery of the flight data recorder, along with the cockpit voice recorder discovered on Wednesday and sent to Beijing for analysis, should provide crucial clues to how the disaster unfolded.

China Eastern Airlines and its subsidiaries temporarily grounded 223 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, airline spokesperson Liu Xiaodong said on Thursday.

The grounded aircraft are undergoing safety inspection and maintenance to ensure that they are safe to fly, he said. The airline also launched a sweeping safety overhaul after the crash, he added.

The 737-800 is the most common version of Boeing's jets now in service, and it is the workhorse of many airlines' fleets.

There are 4,502 of the 737-800s now in service worldwide, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium, making it by far the most common Boeing (BA) aircraft in use today.

Who writes these headlines? What is the connection between finding the 2nd black box and confirming all passengers and crew dead? Didn’t they know that when the crash site was located before the 1st black box was found?

I read that an impact like that explodes the human body and nothing is left. How could they confirm the dead?

I would think a lack of survivors at the crash site would have been their first clue.

Pretty obvious no survivors from the start... though nice to have “offical” confirmation I suppose..

600+ MPH Nose first into the ground... you aren’t even recovering bodies, you at most are finding some parts, if that.

After watching the video of the almost vertical crash, I’m a bit surprised they found the black boxes even in a mangled state. Don’t know yet if they’ll be able to get any useful information from them.

Seems to me that commercial airliners should have two sets of black boxes, recording the same data, located in different parts of the plane.

Currently, I think they put them in the tail because they seem to survive better there, like in this case.

I don’t think that would be possible to confirm that many people via DNA that quickly in this country.

The article answered that question they recover all the little bits of remains then DNA test them most will be mixtures of dozens of DNA samples. There is specific forensic technology used to separate the individual DNA profiles. They would then ask for samples from.family members and compare the profiles every match is a confirmed deceased. This is exactly what they did for all 123 people China can easily force DNA samples retrieval from family members. This is also the way that World trade Center deaths were confirmed in the rubble by DNA admixture testing.

China has no problems forcing family to.give samples ...warrants paaallleeessee they just show up and say open your mouth swab swab and.off they go. China is anything but efficient.

who benefit from this crash?

Also, what spin will the Chinese use to explain it?

Also, will Boeing go along with that spin, even if it is a complete lie?
