Oops—I guess they found one of those “disinformation” mines.

Freepers need to find some as well.

;-)

In the old WWII movies, they would blow them up by shooting them with a rifle. Does that work?

During Desert Storm, while docked in UAE, the Navy told us (US container ship) to prepare to go through a possible mine field.

It was my job to use an emergency created software to calculate our stability and survivability should we hit a mine. My calculations showed the ship would not sink (we were a very large ship) but the bow would be blown off.

The ship was one of those container ships where the bridge and all living quarters were on the bow.

Impeding passage through the straits is another reason for alarm for Russia’s neighbors. Not much has been noted about Turkey closing the straits to Russian warships. That gives Turkey much leverage to influence the peace when the hostilities end. Turkey might demand a peace treaty before reopening the straits to Russian warships, effectively bottling them up in the Black Sea until a peace treaty is formalized.

Now I know.

“Turkey briefly stops traffic”

Haven’t seen that. I’ve seen a swan stop traffic. Kept stepping into the roadway trying to get back to the lake. I finally got out and walked it across.
