Once upon a time in Little Rock...
If you ever wished to see Hillary Clinton in a production of Into the Woods⦠well, first of all, we have questions for you. And second of all, your wish has come true.
Well, sort of. The former secretary of state, senator, and First Lady has joined the cast of an upcoming production of the Stephen Sondheim musical at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre (a.k.a. the Rep), set to open in Little Rock next month. Representatives for Clinton did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment on the news.
Clinton will not be appearing onstage, however: She will play the voice-only role of the Giant, whose dialogue, as Playbill noted, is often pre-recorded. (Celebrities including Judi Dench and Glenn Close have previously played the part in such a fashion.) Still, the show will present a rare opportunity to hear an American statesperson bellow at terrified underlings outside the office.

When I saw the headline I figured she was just going in search of a box wine grove.
If anyone wants to see what this musical is like, decades ago they taped an entire performance of the original Broadway production for broadcast on PBS.

I doubt seriously that she’s very popular in Arkansas. I hope they have a massive protest at the opening to show just how unpopular she is in the state.
I would prefer her as patience Buckner in “The Cabin in the Woods” as a murdering redneck zombie hillbilly.

Hillary got 34% of the vote in Arkansas in the 2016 election. An awful showing considering it was an adopted home state for so many years.
I’ve heard some people in Arkansas were frustrated about the Clintons abandoning the state, and not returning after their time in the White House. Instead as we know, they bought a mansion in New York so they could say that was their permanent residence for Hillary to run for Senator in that state. Apparently that bruised some “civic pride” in Arkansas.

Does life imitate art? Hillary has that reputation at bellowing at terrified underlings in real life. Just saying.
Picket the production in jailbird outfits.
The people of Arkansas are still scared $#itless of the Clinton machine. I have connections there and when your in public talking with someone and the Clintons come up they’ll go silent and look all around and if there’s anyone within earshot they’ll change the subject.
