And Bruce Vilanch is no conservative.

I used to watch when it was about movies and actors. Now it's just about whatever woke cause the isolated, rich, spoiled brats want to lecture us about.
Although I might just watch if they hand Arec Barwin a gun onstage . . .

From one of my survey emails..
Please note that given the recent news about the removal of 8 categories from the telecast (which will likely impact the length of the telecast), we will not be using the ‘estimated telecast time’ tie-breaker question.

Bruce Vilanch runs in my (former) small circle of Hollywood live event comedy writers, back when I was in the business. Continuing to hire this self absorbed, nasty jurassic slob - 30 years after his prime - exemplifies the lack of talent that exists in that tired town.

The last time I remember sort of watching the Oscars was sometime in the 1990s. Gwyneth Paltrow won best actress, and I remember her pink gown and that she cried while making her acceptance speech. I can’t recall ever watching the show after that, although the live broadcast Oscar threads here on FR have been entertaining.

Pay no attention to the fat homo. Follow 91 year old Rita Moreno and go political from the get go. Add a few F Trumps for old times sake eh.

Isn’t this the one where that skank Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes host? That’s the minefield, IMO.

Well whatever - won’t be watching (again).

If Ricky Gervais were hosting I would definitely watch his opening monologue. But Wanda Sykes and Amy Schumer and some actress I have never heard of? What the hell were they thinking? Viewership will be at an all-time low. Schadenfreude for that.

I saw an ad, for this year’s Oscars, the other day. Haven’t watched them, in at least over a decade.
What was striking....was that all three women (?) looked like they had seriously horrid work done, on their faces. No idea who they were/are, but....they looked SCARY!
One was holding popcorn, can’t recall anything about the other two.

I’ve never watched the awards shows, but when has that ever stopped a freeper from having an opinion?
The best choices for Best Picture: CODA, Drive My Car, and Belfast. The two to avoid, because half of America would read them as a deliberate insult: The Power of the Dog and Don’t Look Up.
The woke crazies will block vote for the aggressive culture war insult. The sane people will split their votes among the remaining eight pretty decent films. This is how destructive but highly motivated factions wield outsized influence.

The Oscars and other awards shows are just dead. “Mama’s Family” reruns from 40 years ago get higher ratings, and are a helluva lot funnier. Bruce Vilanch hasn’t had anyone decent to write for since Paul Lynde died.

No one will watch unless they feel like they have to. People are starting to get wise to Hollywood, though it will take something more than wise-ness to destroy it.
