DENVER (KDVR) — A man has been arrested on a felony charge of criminal mischief for causing $10,000 in damage to a court at a Denver recreation center.
Arslan Guney, 71, was arrested on March 17 for making 45 marks with a permanent marker on the basketball court at the Central Park Rec Center to identify the boundaries on a court used for pickleball.

For those of un who are ignorant........ what is pickle ball.
I feel safe now...
“If convicted, Guney faces 1-3 years in jail for criminal mischief.”
But if he were black and in front of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson the charges would be summarily dismissed in the name of racial equity.
Pickle ball is the illegitimate child of tennis and ping pong.
Sorta like old person tennis...
Boundaries are like borders and if you try to enforce them you are Hitler.
If you’re going to mark the floors with permanent marker, use a straight edge and don’t be messy.
Hilarious they didn’t just use a little rubbing alcohol to remove the marker and instead ruined the floor.
How much does a magic eraser cost? pretty sure less than 10k
They really just want to take away his right to vote, or have a firearm
It’s whiffle tennis:-)
summarily dismissed in the name of racial equity.
Or because he might be a woman.
Low energy tennis with a wiffle ball. The winner has a cooler of Ensure poured over him.
10 grand!? Permanent marker can be safely removed with a can of hairspray and a paper towel. Seriously, that works.
They left him in jail for a WEEK for something a vibrant community member would be awarded for for leaving gang signs?!
MEK on dampened paper towel will leave no trace of the marker
The destruction of the floor for not using the correct solvent is on the supervisor, not the 71 year old.
I don’t know, but it appears to be pretty expensive.
I am dubious to the actual cost of the damage... Permanent ink generally can be removed as long as the surface isn’t too porous... If the Court had any sort of reasonable finish on it, it should be able to be removed without spending 10k.
10k would be, my guess, the cost of completely refinishing the entire floor.
