At the center of Europe and with top talent, superb infrastructure and an existing ecosystem of suppliers and customers, Germany is an ideal place to establish a new hub – a “Silicon Junction” – for advanced chipmaking.

Intel processors have fallen way behind Apple’s M series processors.

Chip makers are pretty close to reaching the bottom. Since this technology is about to max out something needs to replace it. What that will be I can only guess. Nature has been making creatures that think for much longer. Perhaps something along those lines.

Anyone want to comment on how US regulations, especially by the EPA, makes it impossible to do any new manufacturing in the US?

We know the motivation to build it in Germany isn’t because of cheap labor, so here are my guesses: 1) They want employees who actually know something useful, instead of knowing nothing and being obsessed with their race and genitals, and/or 2) They’d really like their shiny new $19 billion facility to be safe from BLM/Antifa arsonists and other assorted thugs.

I was absolutely flabbergasted when that commie Merkel announced the termination of Germany’s nuclear programs. Whatever her sinister reasons for doing that were, it must be regarded as one of the most bone-headed strategies ever, utter stupidity. What relatively self-sufficient country would work to diminish that self-sufficiency.

And yes I know that the political party currently in power here in the USA is doing exactly that over here. But there are several ways to remove politicians from power and none of them are pleasant .. for the politician.

Intel Corporation, stylized as intel, is an American multinational corporation and technology company headquartered in Santa Clara, California.

America - executives of the world plus supporting service industries. Once upon a time, Silicon Valley was meant to be a place of manufacturing due to the abundance of silicon. In the 1980s it was. Now it's humongous office buildings for google, facebook, Intel etc.

AMD had one in Dresden I think. Not unusual for chip fabs to locate in Germany.
