The operator of hundreds of Burger King locations in Russia has “refused” to close them down, stymying the restaurant operator’s attempts to leave the country.
Restaurant Brands International, the Toronto-based entity behind Burger King, Tim Horton’s, and other fast food chains, owns just 15 percent of Russia’s Burger King joint venture. The rest is controlled by a group of investors led by Alexander Kolobov, a Russian businessman who is responsible for day-to-day management of the roughly 800 Burger King locations there.
RBI international president David Shear said in a letter to employees Thursday that the company had contacted Kolobov to demand that all Russian Burger Kings cease operations, and Kolobov refused. It has proved difficult to withdraw from the complicated web of business agreements the company established there 10 years ago, he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, meanwhile, has vowed to nationalize businesses that try to pull out of the country. And many corporations are stuck there because of complicated legal agreements that put local control of individual stores in the hands of Russians.

Dead drop, LOL... “About the beef tallow, makes a much better fry”. Be sure to encrypt it.
So you got her to rescind the restraining order?
How’s Arabic for the encryption:
“حول الشحم البقري ، يجعل قلي أفضل بكثير”
Not even Arabs can read that.
Bet he kicked off faster...
I don’t want to live in a world where a burger griddle in Russia can be disabled by Palo Alto through a back door.
“Drop the bomb, kill them all...”
Colonel Kurtz
“I don’t want to live in a world where a burger griddle in Russia can be disabled by Palo Alto through a back door.”
Neither do I, but we likely already live in a country where are farm tractors can be disabled by a keystroke in Palo Alto or DC.
I wonder how pickled beets work on a hamburger?
I’m ready to believe you!
I love them. Pile them on. Funny how taste changes with age and experience.
That is partially true, the franchise owners do pay for the ingredients from local suppliers.
But who pays for the advertising? Not the franchisee....
Who supplies the franchisee with all the McDonald's labeled packaging in every burger, fries or delivery bag? Not the local supplier....
And once the Corporation shuts them down, if they want to stay in business they're going to have to change their business name to Ivan's Burgers.......
So how is that going to work out when you are now on your own without any support from the US based corporation?
Give it up dude.......
Why close them ? Just continue operating them and if push comes to shove just change the name to Burger Queen and continue to serve the same stuff which most likely is produced locally anyway and forget about the “Guidance” via US which collects the royalties for using the name.

Be careful what you wish for, though...
When a company turned their back on Rush he never allowed them to return.
I watched a couple of YouTube videos last night where people were inline to get their last McDonald’s dinner. It really makes you realize how insane it is. Not that McDonald’s is worth eating but still.
I remember seeing Colonel Sanders face large on the famous Arbat Street in Moscow. I never ate at that one but I did eat at the TGI Fridays in Moscow. The quality control was very good.
I n his address on Wednesday, Putin said Russia will respect private ownership of foreign firms. Earlier, he voiced support of another idea – to introduce external management, so foreign firms could be run by partners in Russia.
The Ministry of Economy is developing a bill to regulate the procedure.
“When a company turned their back on Rush he never allowed them to return.”
What’s your Sleep Number?
I think he mentioned them by name, as they screamed the loudest, but he never, ever, let them back. And the thing was, the HUGE boycotts against them consisted of 10 people in someone’s garage using bots to look like a million people. Rush traced it, showed it to the companies, but some, like Sleep Number, responded: “We just don’t want any trouble”.
After that crap, no company ever tried that stunt again.
If a korporation could change the contract on a woke, virtue whining whim, they'd do it all the time.
Just because the bastardized courts allow it in marriage contracts doesn't mean korporations can do it as well.

Not from the viewpoint of the Deep State/Soros/DNC bunch. They really need to get rid of Putin and his entire structure there, and it won’t be as easy as Ukraine, as they’re wise to them. In Ukraine, all it took was busing in some of the Azov’s and having them light up an otherwise peaceful protest. Once the claims were made that the government was shooting peaceful protesters for sport, it was mission accomplished.
With Russia, the same bunch doesn’t have the infrastructure or access to a paramilitary group ready to light things up, which is why there was large anti-war rallies there, but without any violence (arrests, yes, but no shootings).
So, on to Plan B, which is to crash civilian morale by taking away icons like McDonald’s and Burger King, along with crashing the economy.
Closing restaurants isn’t a very good punishment Doesn’t hurt putin at all.
