Letting the world know that the Democrats fear him more than Donald Trump at the top of the 2024 presidential ticket.
It would be hard to find a person who better represents the liberal media establishment than Thomas B. Edsall, whose career includes the Washington Post, New York Times and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In his latest column for the Times, he attempts to slam Ron DeSantis, letting the world know that the Democrats fear him more than Donald Trump at the top of the 2024 presidential ticket. But in the process of doing so, far from damaging the Florida governor with the GOP electorate and middle of the road voters, he awards DeSantis badges of honor.
Consider:
DeSantis relishes using the state to enforce his aggressive social agenda and has consistently plotted a hard-right course on issues from critical race theory to transgender rights.
For example, DeSantis sponsored and pushed through the legislature the “Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees (W.O.K.E.) Act” — or the Stop Woke Act for short — which now awaits his signature.
The legislation, Florida H.B. 7, bans teaching critical race theory that suggests that
A person, by virtue of his or her race, color, national origin, or sex is inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously.

Desantis takes on the left, head-on, without the mean tweets.
I like DeSantis just fine.
But I see stuff like this as a “Don’t throw me in the briar patch” story. Telling people that the Left fears DeSantis just seems like a subtle way of saying “Please don’t support Trump”.
But I do support Trump.
What would motivate him to write a title like that?
Don’t trust him
Deep State is trying to gin up yet another game of lets-you-and-him-fight.
Don’t play.
But I *LIKE* mean tweets!
Exactly...
...LEFT wants someone whom they (the left) can easily defeat, and that is DeSantis.
TRUMP 2024
They probably see DeSantis as more of a politician and someone they can bend to the left. I would vote for either. No matter which one, it doesn’t make much difference. If a republican makes it to the WH, the Chicken Little leftist media will pummel him on a daily basis no matter who they are and no matter the good they do for the country.
No doubt the Marxist-socialist left are working overtime to pit maw against paw in an effort to stop Trump. But I think/hope DeSantis and Trump are smart enough not to fall for it.
DeSantis wouldn’t be talking about how corrupt the election was a year and a half later. That is the difference between Trump and everyone else, in a nut shell. The boldness needed to fight back is found in Trump but I haven’t really seen another.
I feel the same way. I have liked some of Lifson’s work over the years, but he has had a few lately that have taken the shine off.
Things like this.
I think DeSantis should be the VP. I know it has been deemed the most useless government position, but it doesn’t have to be that way. A truly conservative DeSantis could be, for all intents and purposes, the Executive Branch equivalent of an XO in a military unit. He has a great record, and I have no doubt, could be loyal. Then, if they are elected in a fair election, after Trump serves his term, DeSantis could run.
DeSantis comes across as a principled conservative. I like him. But we need a wrecking ball in the White House.
A Wrecking Ball for the Deep State. And Trump is that Wrecking Ball. And as much as he has suffered at its hands, if anyone has the temperament and reason to smash it, it would be him.
You know that. I know that. The Left CLEARLY knows that. The denizens of The Deep State know that.
And Lifson knows that. He just doesn’t like it.
That said, we NEED that. We have to find a way to take down that putrid, hydra-headed beast we now call The Deep State. It exists.
This country may already be too far gone to help it, and if this current administration gets enough of its dastardly agenda pushed into place in the next three years, that will definitely be the case.
Our only chance is to get back the House and Senate. If we don’t, we can kiss our Republic good bye.
“consistently plotted a hard-right course on issues from critical race theory to transgender rights.”

Hardly “hard right” - even just going by the polling most Americans share the same position across political spectrum as he’s put forth on those issues. Most America is not woke.
And who’s supposed to take over Florida? Someone as good as DeSantis?
Florida is a fat, juicy plum getting even fuller of New Yorkers. I bet the Left would love to have DeSantis out of Florida.
I like De Santis just fine, but I would never support him over Trump.
I am hoping for a Trump/Desantis ticket.
The Left hated Bush 41 more than Reagan, Bush 43 more than Bush 41, and Trump more than Bush 43. Therefore, I know who the Left will detest even more than Trump. It will be the next Republican who makes it to the White House.

You do understand to many people that’s a bug and not a feature? i.e. a minus, not a plus.
I hope for Trump and then two terms of DeSantis.
has consistently plotted a hard-right course More like has consistently plotted an anti-left course.
Feature or bug? Mean tweets are a problem because it what... undercuts the ability of RINOs to cut deals with the other side in a spirit of friendly bipartisanship? [spit].
