In private speech tonight at Cheney fundraiser, Senator Romney warned over 200 Republicans gathered in Northern Virginia of the ‘extraordinary challenge’ to preserve American democracy, with threats now abroad and at home, per 5 attendees...
Attendees described Romney, the GOP’s 2012 nominee, as delivering the remarks as a warning for the group, which included many longtime members of the GOP establishment, all as U.S. confronts Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and as Trump continues to exert power inside the party...
“We are really the only significant experiment in democracy and preserving liberal democracy is an extraordinary challenge,” Romney said, according to the attendees, who gathered at the Hilton hotel in McLean.
Romney told the crowd that he has a chart in his office tracing the history of civilizations over the past 4,000 years, a reminder of how they can rise and collapse, and of how unusual American democracy is in global history. Autocracy is the chart’s “default setting," he warned.
At home, Romney said, “what has kept us from falling in with the same kind of authoritarian leader as Vladimir Putin are the strengths of our institutions, the rule of law, our courts, Congress.”
He then praised Cheney for doing "right... when others want to look away."

All these guys talking about preserving democracy usually want to restrict freedoms to do it. We have to destroy democracy in order to save it, I guess.
Mitt Romney can go to hell.
Pity he’s not talking about restoring governance by constitutional means and throwing progressivism on the ash heap of history.
Tulsi Gannard has demanded his resignation over his comments to her. She’s right
Thanks alot Utah!
What connections does this POS and his family / associates have with Ukraine or Burisma?
ABC Australia featured an American woman named Theodora Le Souquet on their “Big Ideas” radio program on “How to fix democracy” recently.
very little about her online, prior to her arrival in Australia, but she apparently worked for John McCain, and she allegedly plans to run as a Republican for a Senate spot - no details given!
any Trump supporters who want to watch out for her can know her just by listening to the following short excerpts:
1m38s to 2m33s: worked for John McCain, uniparty, etc.
36m to 37m47s: Theodora now works with young tech crowd; in order to progress, “we need a generation to die” (and the ABC audience cheers and applauds. it’s the most response to anything in the entire 54 minutes).
49m47s to 50m45s: US rejected Trump & he’s not coming back even tho he thinks he is; you can storm the Capitol blah blah.

Pierre’s kid worked with Hunter Biden for Ukraine. Do the math.
Romney and his ilk are terrified of the results of truly free elections. They are globalists and are aghast when real Americans see through the nonsense and vote in the best interests of the American nation. Romney and his kind must not only be marginalized by the Republican Party but must be ignored by the body politic. Romney will support the Democratic nominee in 2024.
““We are really the only significant experiment in democracy and preserving liberal democracy is an extraordinary challenge,” Romney said”
Romney and his ilk are hypocrites. They exempt themselves from their own legislation. The rules don’t apply to them. They are the antithesis of what Democracy is supposed to represent.
Mormons are mostly dirtbags. Dad worked for the gov back in the late sixties/early seventies. They were on to them and then something happened.
Mormon=dirtbag.
Mitt and Lindsey are protesting very loudly me thinks.
Let me guess, Romney, we need to jail Trump and his supporters, you know, to ‘preserve democracy’.
Never could figure out why the left says that overthrowing an elected government is “democracy” in foreign countries but challenging a stolen election in the USA is “insurrection.”
He’s an asshole.
“what has kept us from falling in with the same kind of authoritarian leader as Vladimir Putin are the strengths of our institutions, the rule of law, our courts, Congress.”
This is the Big Lie. They repeat it over and over again hoping mere repetition will make people believe it.
That it’s Trump who is the “authoritarian” when in fact it’s the Democrat party and their globalist billionaires with their Uniparty helpers who are doing everything in their power to remove political freedom, eliminate free and fair elections, censor speech, indoctrinate children in government-controlled schools, erase our borders, corrupt the rule of law and kill our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Someday I would like to know, what was the payoff to Romney for throwing the election to Obama? Or was it a matter of kompromat?
Nice to hear from this limp wristed wanker that no other country other than the U.S has a democracy of any significance. Thanks for nothing Romney you patrician ponce
Mitt Romney is the only person in this country who could screw up the 2022 elections for republicans.
It ain't me
it ain't me
I ain't no Senator's son.
