Internet Turns on George Takei for Telling Americans to Shut Up and Pay 'Patriotic Donation' to Cover Biden's Spiking Inflation
The Western Journal ^ | March 13, 2022 | The Western Journal Comentary

Although George Takei is best known for his role as Hikaru Sulu on the popular 1960s television series “Star Trek,” he’s also a political activist and author who has remained highly engaged with the Democratic Party.

In a recent Twitter post, Takei told Americans: “We can endure higher prices for food and gas if it means putting the screws to Putin. Consider it a patriotic donation in the fight for freedom over tyranny.”

There were two serious issues with Takei’s comment, and the well-deserved backlash came quickly and severely.

The first is obvious: Takei has earned millions over the course of his decades-long acting career. For those of us mere mortals, the higher prices of food and gas are problematic.

The second problem with Takei’s remark is that he has bought into the Democrats’ latest spin that Putin is solely to blame for higher U.S. food and gas prices. Party leaders have begun to call it the “Putin Price Hike.” This canard is simply a last-ditch effort from a party that knows they’re going to be shellacked in the November midterms.

On Thursday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the February Consumer Price Index which showed a year-over-year gain of 7.9 percent. The December CPI was 7.5 percent and that belongs entirely to Biden. The remaining 0.4 percent and anything beyond can be attributed to Russia’s invasion, but Biden owns the first 7.5 percent.

I live in a modest 1950s rambler north of Seattle. This year my property tax bill is over $6,100, up about 9% from last year. Meanwhile, the roads are full of potholes, homeless are everywhere, and many government offices remain closed to in-person business. I ask, what am I paying for?

The more the Dims try to make our society socialist like in Star Trek, the more it costs.

Every single time one of these elitists tell us to shut up and pay Biden’s price for gas I want that elite to document what is gross income is for the previous year and to document what their entire net worth is.

Some Euro-peon countries ticket individuals by their income level. Maybe we should charge these elitist liberals a sliding scale for gas and food, make it hurt them as much as it does the poor and middle class.

He is the Upper Class Twit of the week.

costing the average U.S. household $296 per month.

Fixed income retiree here and yes, I'm starting to really notice it.

First time in my retirement years that I am worried......Especially since the gas prices can easily be cured.

The economic stupidity of the left never ceases to amaze. I saw a facebook post where the guy claimed inflation is a good thing for small businesses because they will have higher tax deductions.

I hear you. My sister does own the family homestead but property taxes really cuts into budget. Also uses wood stove to supplement fuel

Suddenly, every Dem is acting as if inflation isn’t a big deal.

We all know they would scream about inflation if a Republican were POTUS.
