Three Reasons Why Trump Shouldn’t Run for President in 2024

We need a strong and measured president to lead America in these precarious times. One who doesn’t bandy loose threats of annihilation or petty insults against foreign leaders on social media. One who doesn’t necessarily embrace his role as being the most polarizing figure in American politics. One who passionately rebukes the media and demolishes their lies, but remains grounded in logic, reason, and facts.

We need a leader who can’t be tied to leading America into COVID lockdowns or, right or wrong, the mythological January 6 “insurrection.” And most importantly, we need a leader that doesn’t come with the physical and mental impairments that come with 78 years of life on Earth, as Trump will be carrying in 2024.

The frontrunner for that role, it seems clear, should be Ron DeSantis. And while Trump was the right man for the presidency in his time, I hope that he will recognize that his time for that role has passed, and he will pass the torch to his natural successor.

DeSantis would make a great VP. He would be the good cop, with Trump being the bad cop.

Correct.

DeSantis needs to stay right where he is. If he vacates Florida as Governor, Florida will fall to the Democrats through corruption. Then game over.

Go away you ankle biting anti Trumpers.

You and a couple other Orange Freepers are a perfect fit in a picture for three monkeys: hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil, when it comes to Trump.

You called me an ankle biter, so I can call you a monkey...lol.

Perhaps William Sullivan (author of the hand wringing tripe article) should think about the installed President now who can’t even figure out who keeps crapping in his pants instead of pulling the 78 years old stuff for Trump in 2024.

Nonsense....

No. Trump is very vigorous, almost youthful at his age.

His mind is sharper than people 40 years younger. Even Pepsi and McDonalds french fries can’t destroy his energy and health. Ask Ronny Jackson his White House lawyer.

DeSantis would make a great VP.

Absolutely. And then he can run for president in 2028.

At age 78 he only has to fall down once like Gerald Ford and all bets are off.

It's happened to Biden more than once, AND with Hillary. It's a matter of support and commitment from supporters. In the case of these two, it is MSM hiding every negative thing they can wrt the two.

I can give you 1,000 reasons why he should run.

I would love seeing him in office when the democrat octogenarian leadership starts dropping like flies, literally and figuratively.

I look forward to President Trump’s comments when Nancy Pelosi relocates to Hell.

Do we collectively believe the word of God? Sodomy seems to be an especially bad sin that just can’t be glossed over.

Trump needs to walk back his support for homosexual marriage or step aside. We are on a path to be an incredibly ugly place to reside in the next coming years. We don’t need Billy Graham as president with but we need somebody who genuinely has wisdom that comes from a fear of God and is able to compassionately convey that wisdom to an ignorant public. Right now Trump is not that man.

But if DJT craps himself the media will be all over it, unlike the current resident.

I expect your plan would have given us President Pence.

AFAIK, Jim never said or implied that. Quit putting words in other Freepers' mouths.

At 78, he would be in mental decline. Period.

I am not saying he would be as demented as Joe. But mental decline is a “thing” and most people here understand it.

What people loved was his brashness and his dedication to “our” core values.

There has to be someone out there who can be direct, strong and advocate for our core values.

The world is changing and we need mentally sharp folks for the entire 8 years.

All of our major political leaders right now are what I used to call affectionately, “fossils.” From both sides of the aisle.

THAT needs to change.

Trump is going to have a primary battle on his hands

Hmmm. Interesting. So who do you think is going to give Trump a run for his money?

If Trump runs he wins. I want retribution for the rigged election. Trump is the only one who brings that. People need to be tried convicted and hang for Treason.

Demonstrated competency in staffing the Executive Branch, using it as a machine to carry out your agenda, is a core attribute of being President. Donald Trump was SUPERB at running for President, twice. And a pleasant byproduct was setting forces in motion among the People which can someday mature into a viable party/project to govern the country. But Donald Trump was a FAILURE at staffing the Executive Branch, from Day 1. He did not support Michael Flynn. He did not hire Kris Kobach. He did not fire Robert Mueller. He did not punish his enemies. As a result, they tied him up in knots, and more or less successfully prevented MAGA from actually happening. Now to be fair, he expected Republicans to have his back, and at least not to cooperate with Pelosi, Schumer, Mueller and the rest to prevent him from success. I see he is still flogging the GOP dead horse, trying to bring it back to life. But, to quote one of my best teachers, "Mister, that is not an excuse. It is a reason for failure". I need to hear more from him accepting responsibility for this failure and explaining how it will be different. I don't expect to get it.

I agree, noting that beating the GOP horse, holding rallies, crying foul and calling others names does not indicate learning.
