To become an Airline Transport Pilot it only takes 500 hours.

In most states it takes more hours of training to become a barber than it does to become an EMT or Paramedic.

Do all the nail parlor people need ‘training’?Looks like licensed nail technicians are required to have 400 hours of training in Idaho.

I wonder how many hours Kamala spent on her back to become the Vice-President of the United States and she’s still not qualified!

Remember all the old “Mommy, Mommy...” jokes?
“Mommy, Mommy, my braids are too tight!” and you stretch your face out.

There is a lot of merit in these lawsuits against irrelevant licensing requirements. They tend to be deliberately written to raise barriers to, and raise the cost of, entry into an occupation , and protect the existing members of the guild from competition. Naturally, that means the people who want to work and take the first step up the economic ladder are deliberately stymied. American Dream. Yeah.

You can't get a contestant to Miss Ebonics from Idaho. They simply won't wear the sash.

I have been cutting my hubbys hair for 22 years...do I need a license to walk into a barber shop and be a barber? My hubby’s been cutting my hair for over 10 years...can’t he just go into a salon and get a job cutting ladies hair? I think not. There is a lot more to hair care than doing some fancy braiding.

Called rent-seeking, established by medieval guilds. One of the first things we are supposed to learn in high school Macro.
I went to a local technical college to learn machining/CNC programming. Our program director eventually moved on, being frustrated by trying to compete for funding with the "Hair and Nail tech" program.
As if the two programs had anywhere near the same resource needs. but, machining was full of "white boys," and Hair and Nail Tech was full of minority females.

As far as I could tell from the article, all these ladies were doing IS braiding.

That’s nuts.
I can learn all of that for free, and do it myself.

1,600 hours of training to braid hair?! I’m gathering that they don’t like braided hair in Idaho.

I have a local FFL who works at Idaho National Lab doing CNC machining as his day job. Half of his garage is filled with a top of the line CNC machine. One of his specialties is doing pistol slide machining to host an optical sight. For the bling oriented, he makes custom inserts for the rear of a Glock slide with interesting images. I took my AR lower for engraving of my NFA trust on the magazine well ahead of submitting my Form 1 for an SBR to ATF. A quality job engraved to ATF specs. His business is J&L Machining in Chubbuck, ID.
