A south Florida teacher was taken to the hospital last week after she was attacked by a 5-year-old student, leaving her "dazed" and "unresponsive," officials said Monday.
The unidentified instructor was found by first responders “sitting on the ground against the wall" and "appearing to be in a faint state" at Pines Lakes Elementary School, about 15 miles southwest of downtown Fort Lauderdale, according to a heavily redacted Pembroke Pines Police Department incident report.
The victim was "clearly weak and dazed," able to "blink and breathe regularly but at no point was able to vocally respond or show signs of a response," the report said.
The troubling incident started when a 5-year-old boy had to be removed from class for “throwing things around” and “flipping the chairs,” police said.
The youngster was taken to an empty “cool down” room, where the attack on the teacher allegedly took place, police said.
The teacher was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood and has since been released, officials said.

“She’s got some other bodily injuries from him jumping on her, attacking her, kicking, punching, biting that’s going to lead to surgery.”

One of my teachers had one of those "holy boards of education" also; he used a wood burner to inscribe it, "Pray for strong legs, and a slow teacher!"
If a girl had a thin skirt or dress, he made her pull it tight across her bottom; if she had several petticoats, then it was raise all but one.
Sadly, I almost didn;t have to look.
Unfortunately, one of the risks in working with developmentally/emotionally disabled kids is that they will attack you. And there seem to be a whole lot of those around lately, don’t there?
Who knew that encouraging all sorts of experimentation with drugs and “lifestyles” would lead to millions of disabled children who will never grow into healthy, productive adults? If only someone would have warned us!
Being in catholic school, we had to wear uniforms. Us gals always wore shorts under our skirts to keep the boys from pulling our skirts up and in case we fell on the playground. It helped cushion some of the blows.
Yes: We felt sorry for ourselves.
Once when I was in college my roommate and I were browsing the thrift store when an “Amish” kid about 4 years old ran up , grabbed me around the leg and started biting me. It hurt like a so and so. I’m telling the kid to stop and he’s smiling and hanging on like a monkey. Finally I managed to push his forehead back so he wasn’t biting but I couldn’t dislodge him. I’m yelling at the kid and the mother is standing g 15 feet away doing nothing. Yes they always hated us. Finally I yelled at her that I was going to throw her kid through a window and she reluctantly called him off. I had a bruise on my thigh in the pattern of A set of teeth for three weeks. Kids are amazingly strong.

She suffered a concussion and other injuries after the "enraged" special education student, between 50 and 60 pounds, unleashed on the teacher, according to the union chief.
