The NFL and the NFL Players Association have agreed to halt all aspects of their joint COVID-19 protocols, effective immediately.
Following nearly two years of restrictions, operations will return to normal, the league relayed in a memo Thursday, obtained by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
It is a long-awaited awaited announcement as there will be no more requirements for masks, tracking devices, surveillance testing or capacity limits, unless they are required by state or local laws.
"Based on current encouraging trends regarding the prevalence and severity of COVID-19, the evolving guidance from the CDC, changes to state law and the counsel of our respective experts, the NFL and NFLPA have agreed to suspend all aspects of the joint COVID-19 Protocols," the league memo read in part. "We will continue to prioritize the health and safety of players, coaches and staff, as we have throughout the pandemic."

The memo does, however, underscore that teams must remain "in compliance with state and local law and are free to continue reasonable measures to protect their staff and players."
Among the notable protocols that will be lifted:
There will no longer be mandatory surveillance testing of players or staff, regardless of vaccination status. However, teams will be "expected to identify a space inside the club facility to accommodate at least 10 Mesa docks" for anyone who reports symptoms. Players and staff are no longer mandated to wear Kinexon (tracking) devices. Regardless of vaccination status, players and staff are not required to wear masks or face coverings. This is subject to state and local requirements, and clubs are able to require masks "if they elect to do so." Going forward, per the memo: "All individuals must continue to monitor themselves for symptoms on a daily basis prior to entering the club facility."
If an individual experiences COVID-19 symptoms, they're directed to report to the club medical staff and will need a negative test to return to the club facility. Players -- or staff -- who test positive must now isolate for five days after a positive test.
Thursday's memo brings about a long-anticipated development following the 2020 and 2021 seasons being played under COVID-19 protocols that hugely altered day-to-day operations, led to game postponements and myriad missed games for players and coaches. However, as noted by Pelissero, over the previous two seasons, all 554 games were played and both Super Bowls took place on schedule.
As the NFL world is currently descending upon the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine to get a look at the players of the future, Thursday's announcement is a sign of things getting back to how they used to be prior to the 2020 season and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ping!........................
Too bad all the players got jabbed—can’t be undone—oh well....
;-)
I personally would like to thank Vlad Putin for ending the Covid pandemic.
For 3 weeks now since Ukraine has occupied the MSM hype-machine, CDC has gone quiet, Fauci has gone back into his corrupt bureaucrat hole, and ridiculous covid controls are quietly being dismantled.
Stealth jabbed with placebo shots, most likely.
These owners may be greedy, but they are not stupid, nor are they without insider connections.
This is happening all over and our Mediots are not covering this news.
So what is happening to all the vaccines? See item below:
As vaccine demand falls, states are left with huge stockpile
As demand to get COVID-19 vaccines in the U.S. collapses in many areas, states are scrambling to use stockpiles of doses before they expire and have to be added to the millions that have already gone to waste.

I don't think the regime will disappoint.
What a complete joke
all their executives and celebrity fanbois were at the Super Bowl with no masks, drinking and laughing it up and having a good time with not a mask to be seen except maybe on a few servants
Took ‘em long enough ... then again, those in the NFL and in most of professional sports, and especially those in sportscasting were among the most irrationally frightened, unbelievably ignorant and cowardly people in America ... right up there with schoolboards and teachers unions.
You beat me to it. I don’t like Putin, but we all owe him some thanks for ending Covid.
And, yet, let like Japanese soldiers holding out on remote Philippine islands year after the war, the California legislature is cooking up new vax mandates oblivious to the changing world and the vaxxes’ ridiculously poor track record.
Bunch of jackasses. (The NFL, for forcing otherwise healthy guys with little or no comorbidities to go through this crap)
“Too bad all the players got jabbed—can’t be undone—oh well....”
That’s a shame...
Some posters have noted that Putin should get the 2022 Nobel Prize for Medicine for ending Covid.
;-)
Too bad so sad. NFL has been dead to me for 3 years now or more
I'm in NYC today and half the people in Grand Central had their masks off. Outside, masks are pretty much gone and you can actually walk into a restaurant without being asked for a vaccination card.
My company, which just a few months ago, was pushing vigorously for every employee to get vaxxed hasn't even mentioned it in weeks. It's like it never even happened.
I do feel bad for those who got their shots (who otherwise would not have gotten them).
Yes, Russia finally solved the Fauci problem for awhile at least.
Thanks for the NYC update—was wondering what was happening there these days...
Yep, that and the mid-term elections totally vanquished Covid. Amazing how instantaneously Covid is, just, gone.
That sounds like the start of a great vanity post or a Babylon Bee story. I like it.
