Coke Freestyle machines seem to have all of the soda flavors you could ever want. But not even the Coke Freestyle dispensers can bring back the discontinued sodas of yore. From the inventive (Coca-Cola combined with coffee, anyone?) to the truly strange (we're looking at you, bacon soda), the beverage industry has come up with some wild creations over the years.
Here are a few soda flavors that have gone the way of the dinosaur. We can't say we miss them, but it's fun to reminisce about these vintage options.

I get sad when my favorite flavor is removed from the shelves.Yep. Kroger removed all of their excellent cane sugar-sweetened Kroger brand sodas from the shelves. I miss them. They were sold in 8-packs, often reasonably priced.
One flavor that I had never heard of until I moved to Virginia was "birch beer" and I grew to love it. It's similar to root beer. Now it's gone.

All those crazy concoctions. As a kid we had Towne Club sodas. Many different combinations of flavors.

I miss Marvel’s Ginger Ale from Ridgley Maryland, and Frostie Rootbeer from Catonsville Maryland. There were lots of small soda, beer and hard spirits companies. Most were bought out or killed by the late 70’s.
Frostie was made by a company in Texas in the early 2000’s and I found some. It was an instant time machine.
