In a new report, scientists have collaborated to investigate the antiviral properties of cow milk protein against variants of SARS-CoV-2, the virus behind the illness.
The protein in question is lactoferrin, found in the milk of most mammals. Bovine lactoferrin, from cow milk, has bioactive characteristics against many microbes, viruses, and other pathogens and has been found to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 infection under experimental conditions by blocking the ability of the virus to enter target cells, as well as by supporting cells' antiviral defense mechanisms.
"Bovine lactoferrin has shown antiviral activity in human clinical trials," says Jonathan Sexton, Ph.D. "For example, orally administered bovine lactoferrin has been shown to improve the severity of viral infections, including rotavirus and norovirus. Given the broad antiviral efficacy and safety, minimal side effects, and commercial availability of bovine lactoferrin, several review papers have suggested using it as a preventive or post-exposure treatment for SARS-CoV-2 infection."
With the goal of improving clinical relevance and translatability, the team tested bovine lactoferrin against some of the most common SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern from around the world, including the WA1 variant representative of the United States outbreak in 2020, the B.1.1.7, B.1.351, and P.1 variants, and the Delta variant. Sexton explains, "Each of these variants includes modifications to the SARS-Cov-2 spike protein that reduce the efficacy of newly produced vaccines. Furthermore, each of these strains shows reduced neutralization by vaccination sera."
The researchers found that bovine lactoferrin was effective against all the strains that were tested in vitro, and they expect it would also have activity against additional emergent strains.
Sexton emphasizes, "An orally available therapeutic that covers emerging strains would be ideal for treating SARS-CoV-2 in areas without widespread vaccination or if new strains escape the vaccine."

As I understand it, the general availability of components of milk, leading to apolactoferrin, are as follows:
Milk > colostrum > lactoferrin > apolactoferrin
Lactoferrin is a low percentage of colostrum and a tiny percentage of normal milk, and apolactoferrin is a small percentage of lactoferrin.
For insight, the mechanism these use for fighting cancer metastasis appears to show lactoferrin adding iron to hurt the cancer while the apolactoferrin pulls it away. I don’t know if any iron effect is important to neutralizing SARS-CoV-2.
Either form should be as harmless as having a glass of milk, and my wife and I took apolactoferrin through our COVID infections (due to prior studies on that).
Bovine lactoferrin and lactoferricin, a peptide derived from bovine lactoferrin, inhibit tumor metastasis in mice
Maybe that’s why I got through covid 19-84 last October. Plus drinking large volumes of orange juice fortified with Zink. Who the heck knows?
Hmm.
Is there more of the beneficiary components in RAW MILK. Is alot of it lost in the pasterization and homo. processes ?
Raw milk direct from the cow — the stuff that is illegal in Florida. Legal thou in many other states.
It does a body good!...................
In other news, doctors suggest an apple a day.
You know how the vaccine fanatics respond: if you survive Covid after using zinc et al, they say you would have survived anyway, but if you survive Covid after you’ve been vaccinated, they say the vaccine saved you.
Milk is racist:

Coming soon from the CDC: “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Just stop it!”
LOL if it wasn’t true...
I think pretty much everything will be beneficial against the Corona virus except the vaccine that is supposed to protect you from the Corona virus.
My family moved to Kansas when I was 12. Not so much where we moved to but where we moved from. We lived a quarter mile from a local dairy. I had been raised on raw milk since I was a baby. It took a year before I could drink VitD Milk. I thot my parents were brainwashing me! This crap aint millk!!
Love me some raw milk!
I was reading somewhere that taking lactoferrin with diphenhydramine is an effective treatment against Covid’s more deleterious effects. As for me this winter I take Vitamin D3 daily, had the flu shot but refuse the clot shot. Haven’t been ill at all, thank you God.
I drink milk almost every evening before bed. Love milk.
After my J & J vaccine, I was virtually paralyzed for a week. Couldn’t bend, stand, felt like rigor set in.
After a week the symptoms diminished and I drank my first glass of store bought pasteurized and homogenized whole milk. I broke out in a red rash that itched like a three day old sunburn almost immediately. Took a Benadryl, went to bed and woke up feeling fine.
Not realizing the milk caused the symptom, The next night I drank another glass of the milk and the same thing happened.
My theory was that the homogenized fat particles carried the spiked proteins throughout my body in my bloodstream.
The following week I was home on the dairy farm and drank a glass of raw milk with no response.
Recently I had covid and the red rash reappeared that itched, but only on my lower legs. Hung around for days.
I will read the study to determine what variables they controlled for in the study as milk is a complex product.
I read the article and the next one to it in the journal.
Two common compounds show effectiveness against COVID-19 virus in early testing
A pair of over-the-counter compounds has been found in preliminary tests to inhibit the virus that causes COVID-19, University of Florida Health researchers have found.
The combination includes diphenhydramine, an antihistamine used for allergy symptoms. When paired with lactoferrin, a protein found in cow and human milk, the compounds were found to hinder the SARS-CoV-2 virus during tests in monkey cells and human lung cells.

Everything works against Covid except Fauci and his damned vaccine.
You sound just like me, except I love freshly squeezed orange juice (ie. not pasteurized). I’ve only had the opportunity to taste raw milk once in my life, and that was as a teenager when I balked greatly at the idea. My dad was in hog Heaven though! Took him back to his childhood!
Vitamin D

Not to get too excited. These are in vitro results, not in vivo.
