For a few tense days in January of this year, astronomers were tracking a Near-Earth Object cruising towards Earth with its trajectory showing it hitting the planet in 2023, when it mysteriously changed course. The asteroid dubbed 2022 AE1 was on course to hit Earth on July 4, 2023, with astronomers predicting real damage to a local area.
The asteroid was moving so fast that there was not enough time to attempt deflection and the European Space Agency (ESA) said that, worryingly, the chance of impact appeared to increase based on the first seven days of observations. The first observations were followed by a dramatic week 'in the dark' as the full Moon outshone the potential impactor.
When the Moon moved away, the telescope looked again, only to find the chance of impact was dramatically falling. Since then, it has been confirmed that 2022 AE1 will not impact Earth and has been removed from ESA's risk list.
Astronomers said that several asteroids often appear risky during initial observations, get riskier, and then suddenly become entirely safe. "As is often the case, the overlap with Earth remains even while the risk corridor gets smaller due to further observations and so the risk appears to increase. More often than not, as the hazard zone narrows, the small potential corridor moves off Earth and the risk suddenly drops," ESA said in a statement.

In virtually every photo Pelosi looks like she’s having a psychotic break. That wide eyed stare and open mouth just look insane.
Which she is.
Now they are trying to “prove” that the universe came about by accident at the quantum level. Unfortunately this still doesn’t explain what caused those quantum forces to exist in the first place.
Or deflecting ones that were confined to the outer Solar system into our neighborhood.
When I was a kid we were told the Moon was there to protect us from asteroids. Opposite of a large planet protecting a small one, by Jove!
Before Galileo The Church said all heavenly bodies were perfect and without flaw. Clearly not true on the face of it. Look at the blotchy face of the Moon!
I thought I was finally going to get my order of Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster filled. Damn that Asteroid Prime shipping service.
Well, of course we're not going to move that thing until the moon is in the way. Everybody would be watching.
I think Apologetics is very important.....not that I’m any kind of expert on the subject but I plan to do more research probably starting today.
Billions of our tax dollars spent on high tech satellite telescopes capable of documenting the creation of the universe and...no pictures?!!
Bad Asteroid!
Appreciate it
Footfall🤔
More worried about hemorrhoids at this time....
Those scientist need to recalibrate their local celestial mechanics calculators....
Maybe the Antikythera mechanism can help.
That was the same period Hollywood was promoting the film, "Don't Look Up". He's my theory. The scientists were asked/paid to say this object could hit the earth.
Hollywood does this all the time. I remember something similar happening when archeologists started talking about the 'end of time' Aztec calendar. It was nothing but a Hollywood tie-in.
Same thing when an actor or singer does an interview out of the blue making some provocative comment. It's all Hollywood hype. You're being played.
More interesting was impact day of July 4th...LOL
You have to have the conception of “thing” before you can use the term no-”thing”....to me, nothing means something smaller than the Planck’s range of detection by us. Not the absence of “thing”
Agreed. Somebody needs to track media stories to paid promotional activity about to occur.
I think I Love Lucy had a show based on that premise.
They did not have the proper messaging to go along with an asteroid hitting the earth. If they could have come up with something that would have somehow transferred more power to the Democrats/communists/liars, it would have remained a real danger for the next few years.
Scientists lie, like democrats. Bought and paid for. Give us some money (grants in lieu of bribes) and we will sing you a song of your choice.
# “Lucifer’s Hammer” by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle
That’s a great book. I’d Pournelle was one of the greatest SF writers of all time.
