Leasing firms will terminate their contracts with Russian airlines and repossess aircraft.
Under EU sanctions announced on Sunday, leasing firms must terminate all contracts with Russian carriers over the next 30 days.
Over half of Russian planes on foreign lease According to ch-aviation, 777 of Russia's 980 passenger planes are on lease, of which 515 are from foreign aviation firms. AerCap, the world's largest aircraft lessor based in Dublin, has 149 planes leased by Russian airlines, while SMBC has 34.

From Paradise Lost. Was Russia ever a paradise?
Vlad will scrap them before returning them.
I think Vlad will be staring down a lot of gun barrels before this is over. He better make peace with God—now.
I wonder how the World will react if China violently takes Taiwan? Will it be similar to this? Is it even possible?
We’re already staring down the barrels of Russian Nukes controlled by an unstable tyrant. somebody in Russia had better take the keys away from him..
Wow...”515 of Russia’s 980 passenger planes are on lease from foreign aviation firms”
Vlad will not scrap them, but prevent them from leaving Russia and maybe confiscate them.
If China takes Taiwan I predict there will be some initial outrage, some real, some fake, but it will go back to business as usual very soon.
Plot twist: EU planning to install a puppet leader in Moscow.
—”Vlad will not scrap them, but prevent them from leaving Russia and maybe confiscate them.”
The Russians may have excess capacity for some time and little need for the aircraft?
And that brings up the questions, who is the EU leader and who is the puppetmaster of the EU leader?
They should overthrow the Putts and replace him with the more liberal billionare he imprisoned a couple years back, if still alive.
The usual suspects....
The billionaire would probably be a globalist. That wouldn’t be good.
“Vlad will not scrap them, but prevent them from leaving Russia and maybe confiscate them.”
Exactly. If the EU can arbitrarily cancel contracts then Russia can arbitrarily cancel ownership.
“The Russians may have excess capacity for some time and little need for the aircraft?”
Is that something you just made up or is there any basis in reality?
I’ve been wondering about this myself. My thinking is that Russia and China have some sort of understanding about each other’s territorial goals. I did think that if one went, the other would very soon follow. However, if the Russians find themselves in a big enough stink hole over Ukraine, the Chinese may decide the risk isn’t worth it, at least for now.
They’d be idiots if they put those planes back into service. Odds are the Russians sabotages those planes. Just put them in storage for parts.

How do we know that Putin is an “unstable tyrant?”
That’s easy! We gots one of our own.
BINGO!
And about half of our people don’t recognize it because they are under constant indoctrination and have no ability to discern or think critically. They’re worse than sheep.
