The Growing Threat of a World Run by Dictators
Real Clear Politics ^ | 26 Feb, 2022 | By Michael Abramowitz & Sarah Repucci

Early Thursday, an authoritarian ruler deployed troops into an embattled democracy in clear defiance not only of that country’s sovereignty, but of condemnation and threats from the rest of the democratic world. The Putin regime’s incursion into Ukraine is just the latest symptom of a much larger pattern of antidemocratic aggression.

In 2021, for the 16th consecutive year, Freedom House’s Freedom in the World report found that respect for political rights and civil liberties declined globally. Military coups proliferated, and authoritarian regimes staged utterly uncompetitive elections in Hong Kong, Iran, Nicaragua, Russia, and elsewhere. An astonishing 8 out of 10 people in the world now live in countries rated by Freedom House as Not Free or Partly Free.

It doesn’t help when the Democrat party aspires to join the ranks of dictators themselves.

Oh, you mean with a president we never elected?

They only did that with the help of many Republicans in Congress, the state legislatures, and on the courts.

Canada is considered the 5th most free country. We are way down on the list, because we treat ‘migrant’s bad and stuff.

They probably think the US and Canada are free countries.

They just don’t consider taxation to pay for illegal immigrants a form of slavery (which it is).

It stopped being a “threat” a couple years ago.

I can’t honestly think of any free country in the world right now.

I once read that someone influential, I forget who, said the world is so over populated the nearly 8 billion people must be reduced to a half billion by getting rid of the “useless eater” with controlled pandemics, abortions, small wars, starvation, et c. Sort of a world-wide version of Herman Goering’s vision for eastern Europe. Seems like some “world leaders” are taking his advice. He said he was proud of Trudeau, Merkel, and Putin.

The world is only run by dictators because the world is full of useful idiots who follow and support dictators.

Why is it that so many times here, excerpts of articles go on for a paragraph or two, maybe several, then repeat themselves?

“Early Thursday, an authoritarian ruler . . . .

In 2021, for the 16th consecutive year . . .

Early Thursday, an authoritarian ruler . . .

In 2021, for the 16th consecutive year . . .

It requires proofreading. But this is the FR and no one reads the articles anyhow.

The world has always been run by dictators. Republics are the exception, not the rule.
