Many of the big stars of the 50s and 60s were remarkable entertainers but awful parents. Just look up the story of Bing Crosby and his six sons.
Their first love was their work and the family was expected to support that public image before all else.

It probably is true at least to some degree. Hollywood has been a cesspool since its beginning. Maybe his real last name was Woltz (Godfather reference). Why now? Why 58 years later and after the man is dead and gone? It’s one thing to state the obvious: that he wasn’t funny, the French be damned; it’s another to make these allegations when he can’t defend himself.

I spent about eight days at the Desert Inn back in the late 70s. Jerry was staying there at the time. At inthe restaurant a number of times while he was holding court at a nearby table. It reminded me of the petty mobsters I saw in Kansas City. Greasy and full of self importance.
Jerry always came across like a pompous a-hole. But 5 years after he’s been dead? Too little too late.

I saw a program that said that Bob Hope was a womanizing ladies man. I was so disappointed when I heard that. I used to think he was a good, clean guy.
