Why not just hand each one 50K and a handshake, and say “Good Luck”?

I should offer my service to LA to build each unit for only $800,000. My gift to them.

All government programs are nothing but slush funds.

That’s OK. The FedGov spent $37k to house each Afghan refugee for (4?) months.

California government can’t build houses or railway systems, apparently.

The damned California “housing authority” people got rules or laws passed 50 years ago that every city has to provide it’s “fair share” of low income and below market rate housing. Even the very richest towns are given their “fair share” targets. It’s utter insanity to put low income housing in towns like Atherton, Hillsborough, Woodside, Portola Valley, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Los Alto, etc.

The push-back from the cities has been tepid at best but generally they throw their hands up and say “OK, we’ll comply.”

Meanwhile, one of the main thoroughfares on the SF Bay Area Peninsula, El Camino Real, is full of potholes that will swallow SmartCars. This road is as rotten and poorly maintained as any you’ll find in a third-world shithole country. I’ve been off-roading with smoother roads than El Camino.

We keep spending money on homeless and illegals and cutting back critical infrastructure maintenance.

This state is absolutely and utterly insane.

In all honesty, $837,000 for a condo is pretty good in LA. Prolly get you about 400 sf.

But at least liberals can feel good about their ‘good intentions’ and that’s all that really matters, right?

You could buy boxable homes for $50,000 + land and utility hookups.

I’m not sure if any new moble homes are any cheaper.

Segregate normal people from drug addicts and those with mental problems.

I read there are 300,000 shelter beds in the U.S. and 500,000 to 600,000 homeless. That’s probably overstated as activists tend to exaggerate. On the otherhand the backlog of foreclosures may make it worse.

Still 300,000 x $70,000 = $21,000,000,000 ($21 Billion).

"The solution is innovative financing, slashing red tape that slows projects and incentives for developers to aggregate funding to speed up construction. Housing has not kept pace with the urgency of the unsheltered homelessness crisis” -- John Maceri, CEO of the nonprofit People Concern

Yeah, let's get more "innovative financing" to build more million dollar homes for the bums to live in for free. What will that do to the supply of bums?

Damn bleeding heart liberals are going to make life so miserable for all of us, we'll all be looking for such nice free housing.

What you need to understand about social programs is that it’s not about actually getting money/assistance to the people, but paying for gov employee lavish salaries and benefits.

Don’t forget graft. Need to make sure your voting blocs can fund your campaign.
