No one knows if anyone goes to any bunker. There are over 100 of them in the US.

Could be. But consider the increasing possibility of a miscalculation, human mistake, programming error, warships on alert, etc. Anything can happen in the fog of war.
THAT is why it is so important to project strength, readiness and determination — to avoid conditions where things can quickly spiral out of control in a superheated environment.
