We won't soon forget Trudeau's affair with totalitarianism

The prime minister revoked the utterly disturbing Emergencies Act last night, but Canada's problems might be just beginning.

What in the world is going on in Canada? Just last night, P.M. Trudeau revoked the Emergencies Act that he'd been using since last Monday to crack down on protesters. But the Parliament had approved those "emergency" measures, as we saw in news reports.

The Emergencies Act was approved in parliament by 185 to 151, with the minority Liberal government getting support from left-leaning New Democrats.

The special measures, announced by Trudeau a week ago, have been deemed unnecessary and an abuse of power by some opposition politicians.

Am I the only person who thinks it's insane to do something this large on a purely party vote? Furthermore, the precedent set is dangerous by allowing authorities to declare certain areas as "no-go zones," allowing police to freeze truckers' personal and corporate bank accounts, and compelling tow truck companies to haul away vehicles. Also, some of the leaders were denied bail. And Trudeau did say that "the threat continues"...

How did Canada get here? This was not a national emergency. It was restricted to some cities and should have been handled as a local or provincial matter.

Not quite. The Canadian Senate was debating the emergency measure when Trudeau rescinded it. He appeared likely to lose that vote.

Almost certainly, he did not wish to risk a vote of no confidence, so he rescinded the emergency measure rather than risk the vote.

The Canadian Senate has considerable power. They have not used it.

I find it uncanny how much both Justin Trudeau and Chelsea Clinton look like their fathers.
Interesting. Very interesting.

The moment you've declared martial law in order to go after citizens for having political views with which you don't agree and for having exercised their right to express those views - well, that is the very definition of a dictatorship.

Folks in the U.S. might learn from Diktastor Trudope and have a plan to start withdrawing cash from their banks now.

When Trudeau took Bitcoin’s anonymity away, he began it’s collapse. The value has decreased by hundreds of billions of dollars since he acted.

I bet the banks got to Trudeau and told him that his emergency act was going to bring down the banking system and Trudeau is backing off.

Indeed, as per the article, his move was totally political and not legislative in both cases of enacting and removing the emergency act.

From The Canada Guide...

“Canada’s Senate consists of 105 politicians, known as senators, who have been appointed by various Canadian prime ministers. They used to serve for life, but in 1965, this was changed to merely make their terms last until their 75th birthday (though the last life-term senator did not retire until 1999). Senators can’t be fired by the PM, but the Senate can vote to remove members from office if they are found guilty of committing what the Constitution describes as an “infamous crime” (this has never been done to date).”

Canada’s Senate is a rubber stamp for its Deep State.

The Senate is the excuse, not the reason the act was pulled.

Would you have supported using similar measures against BLM and ANTIFA?

There is another possibility here, the governor general acting on behalf of the queen threatening to dissolve parliament and call elections. There was a petition circulating to do that. I am not putting weight on this, but ....

The Queen probably does not have a lot of sympathy with Nazism in her Commonwealth.

If they were peacefully protesting like the Truckers? No. But if you're burning stuff down and attacking police? Hell, yes. It is no small distinction.

Bouncy houses and honky horns are a far cry from burning and looting and assaults, wouldn't you agree?

There are laws against murder, arson, theft and destruction of property.

There are constitutional laws protecting privacy of thought, speech, and protests. The protests in Canada were not violent riots like the Antifa attacks attempted takeovers and successful local government takeovers in Portland.

You are comparing apples and oranges.

Yes. There is the REAL reason for the reversal.

It has not been made public but a bank run has already begun in Canada.

Even bank depositors NOT part of the protest lost trust in banks and the government’s dictatorial efforts to freeze bank accounts.

Pressure from banks stopped Trudeau.

Trust in banks, once lost, cannot be restored like the turning of a light switch.

Nobody wants to be last in line to withdraw their cash from a bank.

People began emptying their accounts at ATM’s which prompted a freeze on ATM’s for a good part of one day.

Another bit of lunacy was talk of confiscating the big trucks and selling them. Banks hold loans on these trucks and would have taken enormous loan losses trying to get rid of the trucks. Combine that with talk of canceling truckers’ insurance which would instantly place all that loan collateral at risk of loss.

It is hard to imagine moves by Trudeau and his idiot minions more destructive to Canada than what they have done.

They may well have done permanent and destructive damage to the entire banking system in Canada.
